Hi,
Cabinets in Punch! are attachments to walls except for the islands therefore once you select your cabinet style from the cabinet list you need to next click on a wall. If you click away from the wall, it will automatically place an island cabinet.

Thank You,
DonnaM

According to my 'user's guide' I am supposed to be able to draw both interior and exterior walls, but my wall toolbox does not differentiate between types. Like a lot of other users, I am using a Mac with Ver. 14.1.4 of Home Design Studio.
The ceiling option on the inspector is also missing.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Hans

Hi Hans,
The words exterior and interior are only indicative of the outside and inside walls in your drawing. There are certain properties related to the exterior walls though and these properties are automatically created once you close off your walls. For example, start drawing the outside perimeter of a design making sure each wall is connected to the previous one. Enclose it with your last one. Now draw a few walls inside.

Note that the exterior walls are measured differently. Exterior walls are measured at the endpoints whereas the interior dimensions are measured on centers.

Note also that you can flip the dimensions of interior walls whereas exterior wall dimensions are fixed to the outside.

When you double click on an exterior wall, it will select all walls that are exterior that create the enclosure. If you double click an interior wall it will only select the inter walls that help enclose the room but not the exterior walls that are a part of it.

So, you won't see your toolbox literally state which is exterior and which is interior.

The ceiling option for the HDS is not a feature of your version but is a feature of the HDS Pro.

Hi Nick,

All the NexGen versions that include the cabinet tool allow you to select the type of cabinet

The cabinets are created with the cabinet tool --> Floor tab --> there are different models, options, etc
When you use the Cabinet tool (Floor Tab), you have two options to place the cabinets
- If you place the cabinet by clicking on the floor of the room, Punch will set an island cabinet
- If you place the cabinet by clicking on the wall of the room, Punch will set a wall cabinet using the selected model

Tip: after you insert the cabinet by clicking on the wall --> select the cabinet on the plan --> go to the cabinets' drop down menu --> select the desired model
When you use the Cabinet icon (Floor Tab), you have two options to place the cabinets

Tip: after you insert the cabinet by clicking on the wall --> select the cabinet on the plan --> go to the cabinets' drop down menu --> select the desired model --> the selected cabinet (floorplan) will become the selected cabinet in the drop down menu.

Hi Nick,
On the MAC program for HDS, when you locate and click the cabinet icon on the floor tab, the cabinets will be located in the Inspector / Properties box under the Info section. If you don't see this box, the inspector/properties box can be turned on in the Window menu. The info section is activated by clicking the blue circle with a white "I" in it.

This is very helpful. I am a general contractor using this for my simple projects. Is there more custom cabinet options I can download, or update for custom cabinets?

Hi Nick,

You're welcome! :-)

Yes, you can import in other formats. As you have the Studio version, you have the 3D Workshop Pro Power Tool --> use File --> Import

You will find links for free resources in my Facebook page

I have a kitchen with cabinets on 2 walls, which meet at a corner.
I can't seem to find any corner cabinets for a kitchen.

I am looking for 2 types of corner cabinets:

1) Where the corner requires a cabinet face which is diagonal. In this case there are doors, drawers, and a countertop as part of this corner

2) Where there is actually no cabinet face (2 sets of cabinets meet at 90 degrees with no diagonal facing doors or drawers). I this case, I need the cabinets and countertop to fill in the empty space in the corner of the room.

I have just purchased Home Design Studio Essentials for Mac.

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter,

You will find the cabinet tool in the floor tab => it is the last icon (see image attached) => click on the cabinet tool => confirm that the inspector is visible => select the desired model => click on the wall to insert the cabinet => you can customize the cabinets, knobs, drawers, etc.
The 9th cabinet is corner cabinet as you described (item # 2)

Item # 1: this type of cabinet is not present in the Punch for Mac programs. In this case, you can use a 3D cabinet - object. In my Facebook weekly tips, I posted a free kitchen cabinet set with different cabinets and one of them is a cabinet with glass doors, that you can use, modify, etc.
You will find this week's tip at https://www.facebook.com...ts-tip-4/922951667777074

Patricia - I have Punch Interior Design v17.5 for Mac and I was able to download your corner cabinet .pob file. The problem is that I'm not able to edit or separate it - my software doesn't seem to have the Power Tool Workshop that you mention on your Facebook post, Tip #4.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,
Check my tip # 4 (Facebook page)
https://www.facebook.com...ts-tip-4/922951667777074
I just added a zip file containing the 8 cabinet parts, so you can download => unzip => import => and use the pieces separately.
Notice that the separated cabinets' pieces are part of the set, so, some parts may look unfinished.
Hope this helps! :-)
