Hi there,

In order to avoid this issue, confirm that the exterior walls form a closed perimeter => if this doesn't happen, the program considers your 4" wall as part of the exterior walls, therefore, the program will change the new wall thickness to 6".

Hi there,

The OP is asking about discontinuous wall connections, not about wall breaks.

Actually, the OP is asking something that Punch Software hasn’t really developed that feature that the major competitors that I can’t mention have this feature where the user can edit the profile of that wall and, define interior wall or exterior wall and the size. I would recommend using the break wall tool and, get it a clean cut so whenever you look at it in 3d . you are not going to have a gap. Honestly, I think that we should Note this as a possible new feature for the future

Hi there,

Nope, what you wrote is not accurate. I'd recommend that you read the manual, so you can learn how walls work.
Some notes:
1 - What you call a feature to be developed, is a feature that we had in the past and fortunately, was already removed! In the (very) old Punch versions, the walls were developed with 2 different tools => exterior walls and interior walls. You can see the 2 different tools in the historic image below, showing old versions. The options to develop walls => the structural characteristics (framing, load, insulation, materials) of each wall can be defined by right clicking on the wall. The walls' properties can be defined using the properties tab.
This method is more related with what we (architects, for example) do every day => the structural walls are not always the walls in the exterior => sometimes, we have load walls in the interior of a house.
2 - In Punch, the software is capable to recognize the exterior and interior walls without any additional tool => if you check the image attached, you will see that the exterior walls include the foundations (pointed with a green arrow) and the interiors don't include foundations (pointed with a blue arrow).
3 - If you use a wall break, you are interrupting the continuity of the perimeter, that is necessary to define other aspects of the file.
Hope this helps.

Why? That would be awesome to experience? I didn't know that Encore And Punch used to do this? What made them disconnected it?

Hi there,

IMO, two wall tools is an outdated concept that generated a complicated use. I use Punch since version 4 and I believe that with just one tool, the program is more efficient.
Note that this Forum is user to user (I am a Punch user), so, if you wish to ask this question directly to Punch, you will need to contact them directly http://support.encore.com/
