Hi KSue,

If you have the plan in Punch, why do you need to trace it again? You can save a copy of your file, and work on the copy.

If you have other reasons, you can
- Print the plan to fit the page, and then scan the plan
- If you have an Adobe program in your computer, probably you have the PDF printer installed in your computer. You can save your plan as a PDF file, and from there, save the picture as BMP

Hope this helps!

I want to build an addition on my existing house, but I would like to run the estimator on just the addition part of the house to get an idea of what I'm getting into.

I've built a Punch! plan of my existing house and property and I experiment with different ideas, but when I run the estimator it estimates the whole house, and I just want the addition.

So I thought I could build just the addition part a lot easier if I had a trace of the existing floor plan.

Do you get what I'm saying? Is there an easier way to do it? Am I making sense? Won't be the first time if I'm not.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a scanner, but I'll try the PDF suggestion, and I'm open to any more suggestions that you might have for what I'm trying to do.

Thanks again, Ksue

Hi Toollady

The scanned plan must be as a bmp file if you use Plat 4.5.1. or jpg or bmp or wmf, etc if you use Plat V8

In the main menu--> Design--> Load floorplan trace image--> open you file--> OK
Design--> Floorplan trace visible (checked)

Using the dimension tools, verify the dims--> Design--> resize floorplan trace

Lets us know if you need additional info

Hi Ksue,

Yes, I got your idea.
There are other ways you can try. In my opinion, you will obtain better results if you:
1 - Build a file with your house + the addition and run the estimator. You will get the spreadsheet A
2 - Run the estimator of the file of your existing house. You will get the spreadsheet B
3 - The difference between the spreadsheet A and spreadsheet B will be the spreadsheet of your addition.

The advantage will be that you will be able to visualize in 3D your house with the addition

Hope this helps!
