Hi, I have three related questions.

1) Is there a way to make a half-height wall that will not affect the auto-ceiling in the adjacent area (ie will not lower it)?

2) How do I create an opening in a half wall that will not join the two areas into one (for full height walls I usually use door encasements but I can't do that with a half-height wall).

2) Is there a way to divide rooms up so that they are two distinct areas without putting in any physical barriers?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I will be glad to help, but I'll need additional information =>

1 - can you inform the title, version, and platform you are using?. On the PC you will find this info in the main menu => Help => About…

2 - What type of opening would you like to create in the half wall? If you wish to add images to your post, please, follow these instructions

I am running Home & Landscape Design Professional (Version 19.0.8.1023) on Windows 10 Professional.

I need an entrance through the half wall … Basically just an opening in it but something that will maintain the boundary like a door encasement does with a full wall.

Thanks

Hi there,

Half wall => if the wall is not fused with other walls on both ends, you can use a half wall, keeping the ceiling height. Otherwise, remove the autoceiling and create a manual ceiling with the floor tool.

Opening: Can you post a picture?. I am not sure what do need.

2 rooms => remove the automatic label and create manual labels. In addition, you can remove the autofloor and add partial floors using the floor tool.

Hope this helps

Opening_1.jpg (120kb) downloaded 7 time(s). Opening_2.jpg (80kb) downloaded 6 time(s).

The attached pictures show the opening in the half wall leading to the stairs.

I had placed a door encasement temporarily in the wall to create the opening but maintain boundaries. The auto-ceiling fell down to the height of the half wall.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you remove the wall where the "door" is, the side walls will mark the opening and the ceiling will disappear.

Hope this helps.
