I've recently upgraded to Home & Landscape Pro V21. I am having trouble joining walls. When I add a wall, the endpoints are not connecting, leaving weird overlapping measurements on the plan. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

Important concepts:
- if you have two walls and you join them using the arrows of your keyboard, you are connecting the walls => this means that the walls are together but they are independent => they don't share the properties and work as 2 separated walls.
- if you have two walls and you join them using the mouse, you are merging the walls => this means that the walls are fused => they share the properties (including thickness) and they work as only one wall.

Note that exterior walls should be fused.

Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components and effects .

If you are interested, my eBook for the V21 programs includes several tutorials about this subject.

Hope this helps.

I had to check, but I am doing the walls that way. I also went back to V18 to test and it works precisely as you stated. It might be a glitch with V21 or I may have a setting incorrect somewhere. Thanks for your input!

Hi there,

The image below is a V21 screenshot.

1 - Try to develop the exterior perimeter first => as you can see the corner outlined in blue in the image, the walls are perfectly fused.
2 - After the perimeter, try to create the interior walls => click on the center of the room => if the color changes (red arrow in the image), this means that the interior walls are fused.

Fuse.jpg (21kb) downloaded 7 time(s).

Hope this helps.
