Hi,

I have a 3 story house designed and now want to slope the lot. I tried using the Landscape->Sloped Lot Section tool to specify a slope, say an 8' difference between front of house and rear. But after using the tool, I do not see any change to my home's foundation in the 3D view - it still appears level. How does one get the soil/ground to be excavated/removed according to the slope that has been defined?

Thanks!

This is a typical scenario where lot slopes down from front to rear of house - where there's a walk out basement (slider) at rear of house...

Hi there,

After you insert the slope, confirm the Start / End elevation as well as the angle. Check if these settings fit the desired slope and elevations.

If you can't see the results, please, can you share a screenshot showing the plan, the slope and the Properties bar (right of the screen)?

In my prior post you can see on the plan where I defined the Sloped Lot Section, which starts at 0' at front of cabin, and slopes down to -7' 4" at rear. I saw no change in the 3D view after defining this slope...

Hi there,

Did you define any other topo setting or build pad?

The image attached shows the settings and how the slope appears in 3D => open an empty file and try to follow these settings => see if the results match.

No, this is my first use of the Landscape tools. No other Slopes defined. The only thing I did was to define the 1st fl base elevation as 2' 4", since the first floor is elevated about 28" over the ground in front. That's why in the 3D view you see only a portion of the basement foundation on all sides. I was expecting that when I defined a Slope Lot Section, that points from front-to-rear, that the 3D view would immediately regenerate and show more of the foundation as you view either side...

I meant to say - I expected to see more of the foundation as you progress along either side of the house, working towards the rear...

Figured it out: needed to put a checkmark in Design Options->3D Preferences->Visible 3D Elements->Topography :)

Suggestion: It would be very helpful if the software alerted us that viewing of Topography is disabled, should one use any of the Landscape tools related to topography. Better yet, maybe there could be a properties panel for the 3D View window that shows the current state of the [ ] Topography checkbox. And allow us to check or uncheck it right there...

Hi there,

This feature exists and not only for topo visibility.

By default, all the visibility settings are on, so it is a good practice to verify all the settings in the panel (Lighting, Visibility, etc).

For the Visibility => When you open the 3D window => click on the Navigation and Render Option (outlined in red in the image below) => Go to the "Visible 3D Elements" (pointed with a green arrow) => the different options appear (outlined in blue) => select / unselect the desired options.

Hope this helps.
