Hi there,

As you probably know, this Forum is user to user (I am a Punch user like you) so we don't deal with Windows, issues, registrations, serial numbers, etc.

These are the generic instructions for the installation
http://www.punchsoftware...m/c-20-registration.aspx
If these instructions don't solve the problem, contact Technical Support
http://support.encore.com/
they will help you with the installation of your program.

Today, 15 May 2016, I installed Punch Home and Landscape Design Premium, V17 bought from Office Max.
After installing and registering the software. My first attempt to open my Punch software, and every attempt after, the initial Quick Start window opens then immediately I get the message..

"Punch! Home Design has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available."

This is not a Windows issue, more a Punch issue not working with Windows. Windows 10 and Punch Design Prem. vs 17 both have been out for a while. Seems like by now Punch would have an update fix to make compatible with Windows 10. I can't get my Punch software open to do an update check?

Thank you for any help.

Chris :)

Hi Chris,

I'd like to clarify some of your concepts, because they are not accurate.
You wrote "This is not a Windows issue, more a Punch issue not working with Windows. Windows 10 and Punch Design Prem. vs 17 both have been out for a while. Seems like by now Punch would have an update fix to make compatible with Windows 10." => although you just bought it, Punch Premium V17 is an old program (it was released in 2012). It was followed by V17.5 (2013), then 17.7 (2014) and the current version, V18 released by the end of 2015. Now, according Microsoft, the consumer release of Win 10 was on July 29, 2015. So I can't see why / how a discontinued program released in 2012 should be compatible with an OS released 3 years after the program.
Although you are sure that it not a Windows issue, I disagree. I believe that perhaps it is a compatibility issue.
Some tips:
1 - Check this article => it is for Win 8 (the OS at the time), but it may help: http://support.encore.co..._id=1645&product_id=2870
2 - Try to run the program in compatibility mode
3 - Check the version number of your Punch program => How to find the Program Name and Version Number => if your program is version 17.0.0. => use this update http://patches.punchsoft...scape_Premium_1700a.html
4 - As you probably know, this Forum is user to user (I am a Punch user like you) so we don't deal with hardware, Windows or patches issues because we can't evaluate your computer conditions.
Please, contact the technical support so they can check the issues in your computer, installation, patches, etc as well as they will check your system, limitations, etc..

Hi Patricia.

Thank you for setting me straight. If the product is so far out of date, why is it even still on the shelves? But that is not the issue anyways.

I can not even open the program to run and install the update you linked to. I had seen and tried that update with in the website. I uninstalled the program then re-installed it, as administrator, now I am getting different errors..mostly dealing with licensing.

The first time I installed I entered the Serial Key and I was getting to the QuickStart page. This installation it is giving an activation request code to obtain a acitivation code from customer service. That will not go thru either.

According to the minimum requirements listed on the box, my computer system exceeds what is required.

So did I waste $80..it was on sale $20 off..
I would upgrade to 18 if I could even get this program open.

I started thru technical support that has led me here.
Thanks for any help and suggestions..

Chris :)

Hi Chris,

You're welcome! :-)

I'd suggest that you start by asking Office Max why they are selling outdated programs. If they have copies remaining, and they are selling these titles with 20% off, I don't think that Punch is responsible for this, right?

As I wrote, I am an Architect and a Punch user (I don't work for Punch), so I can't access your computer and help you. I know that Punch sales department and / or technical support is amazing (upgrades are cheap). So, I'd contact them and explain the entire situation. I am sure that they will help you.
