The Ceiling Designer Power Tool is a great resource to create ceilings, but IMO it isn't a good resource for roofs, for several reasons.
The main issue I see is the thickness --> the elements created with the Ceiling Designer Power Tool are just a thin sheet so you can't add a soffit. In addition you can't texture both sides of the elements (top / bottom)

I was talking about the vertical segment of the unit, the fascia, that can't be added with the 3D workshop

In the image attached, the house of the left has a normal Punch roof and the house of the right has to layers of ceiling, developed with the Ceiling Designer Power Tool

Not working for me. Have H&L Pro ver 16.02. Nothing happens when clicking on "Cutout" in Properties. Followed the Help directions.

Is there any way to easily do this? I have Home and Landscape Design Professional 17.5 and can't figure out how to do this. The Ceiling Designer Power Tool does not cut it for curved roof design (believe me, I tried....) Will upgrade if V19 can do it

Hi there,

1 - You wrote The Ceiling Designer Power Tool does not cut it (the roof) => this is correct because there is a specific tool to do this => go to the roof tab => the 4th icon is a tool called "Dormer Cutout" => this tool will cut the roof so you can insert the desired dormer.
V19 includes an automatic dormer tool, that builds the dormer and creates the opening in the roof.
2 - The Punch programs don't create curved roofs, however, with your program you can create it as a 3D object (or import a 3D object), using the 3D Custom Workshop Power Tool. Alternatively, you can create the opening, walls, etc and add the curved surface created with the Ceiling Designer Power Tool.

Thanks Patricia. This is the first Punch graphic that I have seen with a curved roof - so it is possible (at least for dormer roofs)! Would be nice if they could be easier to create...perhaps in a later release. I will upgrade to V19 and give it a go.

Yes, I agree => it would be nice if Punch included a curved roof tool. However, over the years I developed several curved roofs.
