Hi Dave,

Try this:

- Open your Punch plan.
- Set the first floor as working plan.
- Edit--> Select All--> Edit--> Copy
- Create a new and empty Punch file.
- Set the first floor as working plan.
- File--> Paste
- File--> Save as -->firstfloor.PRO
- Power Tools--> DXF/ DWG Exporter--> Save as--> firstfloor.dxf or firstfloor.dwg

Repeat the process with level 2 and level 3

Patricia, Thanks for the Ctrl C Ctrl V, never gave that a thought. Ok, so I did this, turn on 1st floor, plan view only, box everything showing which is the walls, doors, windows. Do Ctrl C, open new file and paste, you get the walls, windows, doors, electrical and plumbing. Now do a export to .dwg or .dxf and now all you get is walls, windows, doors. Is a lot of work to export, but a work around. It also appears that if you turn all layers on and export that, that hvac, detail, deck, roof, landscape and plumbing don't export at all. I also noticed that when you copy and paste everything to a new file that it doesn't take everything, like object items. I'm done for the night, more work tomorrow Thanks Dave

I have been trying to export complete plans. I can get the layers copied but the roof plans just don't seem to want to go. I select all then go to the floor plan and roof and only the floor plan and one section of roof go. Select all just dosen't seem to select all. What did I miss? Thanks for your help. Diver

Hi diver,

To export a plan, you don't need to select it.

1- Go to the roof tab.
2- Click the arrow to the right of the plan name.
3- Be sure that the floor plan and roof are checked (see image attached)
4- Notice that all the levels will be exported
5- Export from the roof tab

Regards,

Hi, Did what you suggested for exporting the roof plan in dxf format; however, received message (2x) "The wall is not long enough to fit all of the attachments, requires one or more windows, doors, or electrical/plumbing fixtures to be removed." After I hit "OK" twice, I get the export menu and select Autocad 2000 version. The export appears to go okay. Next, when "importing" the file I just exported from A3000 into Autocad, only a portion of the roof plan appears...the floor plan appears to make it okay. Suggestions? Thanks! Daryl

I'm trying to send a copy of my plans to my architect. The architect has several programs he uses - we are trying autocad architect desk top 3.3. Plans go over but have no z axis, x and y seem ok. Any ideas? Which programs are compatible with data from Punch 3000? Thank You. J.Bandel

Hi John Bandel,

To export your plans from Punch AS 3000 you have several options

- Export your plan as DXF or DWG. (Power tools = Export DXF /DWG)
- Print the plan, scan it, and save it as *.jpg, *.bmp, etc.
- Visualize your plan, make a screen shot: Print Screen-->Go to MS Paint-->Paste--> Trim the image--> Save as *.jpg, *.bmp, etc.
- If you are an Adobe user (other than free software), you probably have the Acrobat writer installed as a Printer option of your computer. In Punch, you can save the plan as a PDF file . (Print to fit page-->print to file-->myplan.pdf).
You can open this document with Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop (and other programs). Use File-->open-->myplan.pdf or import the image Import-->PDF image-->myplan.pdf

However, notice that these files are 2D files. Punch does not export 3D DXF. The only format you can export as a 3D file, is as *.VRML.

You can use a combined approach with DXF plans and an AVI movie or BMP images

Hello all, Trying to export to ACAD2000 from Master Landscape Pro. File saves as dxf or dwg but when I open with ACAD it's empty. Just 1 Punch layer with nothing on it. I tried several designs all the same result. One gives me "wall not long enough..." when I try to export it. What am I missing? Also I was looking for toilet bowls in 3d Objects. Is it possible that there is none? Thanks Eebbee

Hi martinradcock,

Try this
Go to your Control Panel, then to your Language Settings. The default language must be English (United States).

If the Language Settings are OK, send me your Punch file with the description of the problem and I'll check it. Please, send a zip file

I have made several valiant attempts to export a 3-floor home design to DXF and DWG files. It will export but even when importing to version 7 and version 8 I get only one layer. Nothing I do shows the three floors individually. Can a plan be exported and then imported into other software as it was drawn in the Punch software with all floors individually visible? Please don't dance around the question with all the other export options available. I have already used them. I need these files for several timber frame companies who are trying to bid on my home. A simple, honest 'NO' will suffice if Punch can't do the job. If the answer is 'YES' please provide the complete instructions on how it is done or a fix for my software.

Hi adolphsmith

First, let me tell you that we (all the people answering questions at the Forum) are volunteers. As you can check, we answer questions within hours, so I don't see the reason for the tone of your post and your sentence "don't dance around the question with all the other export options available"
Did you ever post a question and received a "dancing answer"?
In addition, search for past answers in this Forum is an option too, check these past messages

Hope this helps

I can find the files in my Punch Folder but when I open from Adobe 6.0 the prompt says can not find file either because it is corrupt or was downloaded from email without the proper decoding. Go to original source and save as .pdf. All of the files were saved originally in Arch 18, not downloaded from email or any other source. I saved: Print, print to file, clicked Adobe printer and named each file w/ .pdf extension. Still no go. Please help.

Hi mfournet,

I am assuming you have Adobe PDF writer installed in your computer, right?
If so, follow these steps
- Select a floor-> view working floor only
- File--> Print to scale / Print to page--> Printing in color (yes/no)--> Select PDF writer printer--> Properties--> Paper Custom Size= XX"x ZZ" (the size to fit the plan)--> Print
See the picture attached

Lets us know if you need additional help
