Hi there,

What happens when you open the Metal, Metal Roofing or Stained Glass categories? are they empty?
What happens when you use the Search materials feature?

Hi Patricia,

I do not see any metal, metal roofing or stained glass categories in the Punch Materials library at all. If I search for metal, I get one choice that looks like stainless. If I search for "brass" I get nothing. A search for "glass" only gives glass block. I would attach a screen shot, but I can't see a way to do it, so I'll just list the categories I see:

block, brick, carpet, concrete, fabric, grass, gravel, mulch, paver brick, roofing, siding, sky, stone, stucco, tile, wall covering, wood, wood deck

Hi there,

this is why I insist about the reading of the user's guide. It doesn't seem important, but you are missing a lot of features.
There are 2 Materials' libraries in your version: the Punch Materials library (with the items that you listed) and the Custom Materials library (with lots of custom and brand materials).
I am attaching a screenshot of the manual so you can see this topic and how to find the libraries
Note that if you wish, you can import your own materials to the program=> File => Import => Material to library

Thank you for your help. I actually did read through the users guide, but it isn't very clear or complete (at least to me). Even with your screenshot I had to really fiddle around trying to find what you were trying to show me. Why are basic materials hidden down in "Bonus Materials"? As far as importing my own files, I have imported several items, but I don't even know where I would find the types of files I might like to import (such as glass that behaves as glass). I can't believe that I'm the only one who's having trouble figuring this out. I'm not a designer, but I'm also not computer illiterate. Thanks again. I'll just keep slogging away unless I give up.

Hi there,

First of all, let me explain that this Forum is user - to - user. I am just a Punch user, like you, and as a volunteer, since 2001, I donate my time to help other Punch users. Therefore, if you wish to comment the program, I'd suggest to contact Encore.
What I showed you is that you need to search both Materials' libraries.
Anyway, you have an old version. The libraries organization and access is different now.

Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to develop the different components.
If you are interested, I have several training e-books, one of them is free. See links below.
Note that today (Cyber Monday) Punch offers 40% off on all the the products, including my eBook => http://www.punchsoftware.com/
