Hi there,

The program claims that it imports because the program imports BigGrin

SKP files: although the SketchUp's 3D Warehouse is a great place to find objects, lots of objects are corrupted. I found and imported skp objects that corrupted my Punch file!. So, this is not a Punch problem. In addition, check carefully the SKP version of the imported object. I'd suggest that you import Sketchup V6 objects, they cause less problems. With Sketchup, you can set the version number of the objects.

3DS files: please, read and follow my free tutorial about these files

Both 3DS and SKP objects are created with lots of polygons. For this reason, I prefer to create my objects using the 3D Custom Workshop.

DWG / DXF files: please, read and follow my free tutorial about these files

Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice =>
Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to develop the different components.
If you are interested, I have several training eBooks one of them is free.

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for the info. I'll have to play around with it more. Even some very simple skp files I created myself (and have no reason to suspect would be corrupted) have not imported. I'm fairly new to the whole 3D modeling thing, and I agree that there is a learning curve. I'm pretty good at the HGTV software after many hours, but Punch is quite different in the way it works. I'm willing to put in some time, because I think it will ultimately give me better results.

Hi there,

draw a small rectangle using SketchUp and save it as SKP V6 => import it to Punch. Does it work?

Thank you. Version 6 seems to work better.
