I've made several custom materials over the years of owning this software. But recently any new material I upload into the user library when applied to a surface just looks like a scrambled mess of colors. I've tried several different things. Restarting the computer, re-uploading the image, trying different formats for images, different sizes. It always come out scrambled. My old custom materials still apply fine.

I'm using v20.0.1

Mac OS 10.15.7

attached is a screen shot of the issue.

Scrambledjpg.jpg (142kb) downloaded 2 time(s).

Hi there,

In order to create Custom Textures, you must set and define all the parameters including seams, light, etc. I think that your image shows a problem with the scale of the texture
The scale is one of the most important parameters => you must analyze the size of the imported image vs the size of the surface.

In order to set the correct option => right click the Custom Texture => Select "Material Details" => for textures like Tile, for example => determine the Width / Height of the texture (outlined in green in the image below).
For textures like Sky, for example, Stretch the image (selected in the image below).

Hope this helps.

I’ll double check, but I think I did that correctly too.

I cropped the image in photoshop to 14”x2”

Then uploaded to Punch and had it scale 14’x2’ tiled

You should use the dimension of the material in real life.

So I just saved the file out of photoshop as a jpg with canvas size of 9'x10'

Imported into Home Essentials as 9'x10' tile on both axis

applied the material and get the exact same result.

Also tried it as stretch and it does the same.

I've also tried importing custom textures that I imported several years ago from the same file as the original and they show up scrambled as well.

Hi there,

Sounds odd but V20 is an old program so perhaps it is an OS / hardware issue.

I'd suggest that you check this problem with tech support => you can submit a ticket in this page

Hope this helps.
