Hi there,

Clearly, there is a problem with the elevations. You must create a different floor for each levels and set their properties (including the floor thickness).
When you set the elements' elevation manually, you must elevate (manually) all the components too.

FYI, I think there is a bug in the framing rendering as any "generated" floor in the middle of the structure hides the framing details and negates the core value of such a view, so I submitted a bug on that.

To get around the issue for now, I split one of the walls in the garage and lowered it to the basement level. Since the view is generating the floor at the level of the lowest wall, this trick pushed the generated floor all the way down to the basement floor level. Not a perfect solution, but one I can live with for now.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

You're welcome! :-)

No bug here: as explained, this is what I saw in your image => you have a concrete floor that is placed at wrong elevation. Notice that the Floor settings should match the walls' elevation.

You are correct, it is not a bug – just user error. As you noted there is a concrete floor at the wrong elevation, but my confusion is that I didn’t create a floor object and I didn’t know how to impact the generated one. I repeatedly check the settings in the "Edit Current Floor" options for each floor and they all looked correct.

The support team called me last night and had me fixed in seconds (Thanks Punch! Support!) Just in case you are fighting a similar issue, there is a blue shading when you hover around the perimeter of a floor, and if you click that it turns yellow (selected) and brings up an info page on the right titled "Perimeter". Within that is a button for "Slab framing" which has some properties that can be tweaked. In my case, the main floor (over a basement floor) it had some default settings of a "concrete" floor (as you noted). I had to set that to a wood floor, then disable the "Frame Floor Joist" option (since I already added joists manually). I also think the last option “Automatically update foundation framing” may be why it was moving based on the lowest garage wall.

Glad to know that the problem is solved and that you realized that thewe is no bug. As I wrote, the problem was the concrete floor and the thickness + elevation of the elements.

Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to develop the different components.
In the user manual, the procedure is explained at page 258.
