Hi Jon Edens,
The trace image is not related with the videocard. The videocard issues are related just with the rendering process
Now, if you can import the image into the topo Power Tool, you should be able to import the image in the main program
The right procedure to import the image for trace purposes is --> Design--> Load Floorplan trace image--> open the file --> (BMP, JPEG, PSD (Photoshop), PNG (Portable Network Graphics), TGA (Truevision Targa), Windows Metafile (WMF), Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF), Wireless bitmap (WBMP), and PTX (Punch textures)--> OK--> scale as necessary
If you followed this procedure and you are still experiencing problems, let us know when it happens and the exact text of the message

i also am having the same problem but i cannot import at all it says file cannot be opened but it is a bmp. file so i dont understand why it cant be opened? help please

Hi GinaK,
If you are using a program as MSPaint , for example, to create / save your trace image, notice that there are three types of BMP files
1 - BMP 24 bit
2 - BMP 16 colors
3 - BMP 256 colors
Only the first option (BMP 24 bit) works OK
Or, to avoid confusion, save your image as *.jpg

I'm having same problem importing an image for floor trace. From the Design menu, I click on "Floor Plan Trace Properties", then "Set Image", and after selecting a JPG image, it gives me the "Image could not be imported" message. Are there limits on the size of the file, or the resolution?

There are not limitations of file size. Are you trying to import the file from a CD or DVD?

I am having the exact same issue with trying to import a trace image. I have tried saving it as a jpg and 24 bit bmp. I tested the size theory. I created a simple box in mspaint and couldn't get that to import either.
Did anyone find the reason or issue
resolultion. I am using Arch Serices 5000. "image could not be opened"

I use AS 5000 daily and I use the trace import feature without problems

Yes, is odd. For some (unknown) reason some images saved as bmp (as 16 / 256 colors) in MS Paint don't work as trace image. Specially in they are from a CAD program

It opens in my MSPaint (I use XP - see attached), but as I said, they are odd files and probably the pair of codes in the original DXF may cause the issue, but...
The odd thing is that I received at least 3 emails about this issue with this format

Just an additional comment about this particular file
The original DXF file was exported from a Punch file --> the user (Billy CXW.) did a DWF file but lost the Punch file and the DXF--> then the screenshot of the DWF was converted to BMP
Billy CXW. --> thank you for allowing the use of your file!!

Virus? I don't think so... I have firewall + AV + cookiewall + AMW
