Hello Punch designers,

I am working on a set of plans for an older garage and need suggestions about how to show/design a stair-stepped wall and foundation. I tried to insert a photo from my album here to illustrate the exterior elevation showing the hill side that prompted this design. I hope you can help me to document this "as-built" situation before I start working on the renovation/permit.

Thank you in advance,

Hi there,

Please, inform the name (Professional, Essentials, etc) and version number (version 18 or version, 19, etc) of your program. On the PC you will find this info in the main menu->Help->About… On the Mac this info is on the title menu->About…
We need both because different programs and versions have different features.

Also, please, inform your OS (Windows 10 or Windows 8 or Mac Sierra, etc.)

A picture of the situation would be great: use the "paper clip" icon (above) to attach a picture to your post. See image attached.

Hello Patricia,

I have no paper clip tool available on this reply page to post a picture of the garage. It also will not allow me to post anything from my album too. I can clarify that I am using Windows 7 with the Punch software called Home and Landscape Design Premium program (version 19). Please reply soon.

Hi there,

I am not sure about your question, this is why an image is important.
If you need a wall with base following a slope, I'd suggest that you set segments and set the different elevations.

Otherwise, I will need an image to visualize the situation.

When you post a reply (outlined in green in the image below), you will see a toolbar => this toolbar is pointed with a magenta arrow in the image below.
The paper clip (outlined in red in the image below) allows you to upload an image from your computer that will appear inserted in your post (as the one that you see below).
The image link (outlined in blue in the image bellow) allows you to post a link to an image => upload your picture to a free online photo album like Photobucket or Flickr or Google Photos, for example => look for the link of your picture (usually, photo albums provide a "link for a forum" script) => copy the full URL => Click on the image link in your post => (outlined in blue in the image bellow) => Paste the link.

How to add images.jpg (18kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Hope this helps!

Hello Patricia,

I have attached the link for the garage using Google photos (Picasa is gone) which works on the Google browser. Let me know if this worked.

Thank you,

Hi there,

The method is as I described in my post above, but, for a better understanding I did 2 images.

This first image is based on one of your pictures => basically, you have 3 walls with 3 different elevations

Wall settings elevations.jpg (103kb) downloaded 3 time(s).

In this second image is the same situation developed with Punch software => I divided the wall in 3 segments (use the break wall tool) and I adjusted the wall's height and elevation to match the slope.

Wall settings elevations 2.jpg (37kb) downloaded 7 time(s).

Hope this helps.

Good morning Patricia,

I reviewed your second image (previous email) where you adjusted the height of wall segments to give a stairstep effect. Please explain/show how the brick height was set for each partial wall component. I am trying to access the Trim Designer Power Tool on p. 374 of your v19 Win manual. Is it included in my version (Essentials) of the program? I would like to adjust the wainscot height so I can add the "concrete trim" to each step/segment.

Thank you in advance,

Hi there,

Do you have Premium or Essentials? You mentioned both programs Confused

Anyway, this is comparison chart for the Windows versions.
Note that my eBook covers all the Power Tools and all the V19 programs, but, as it stated in the eBook, not all the programs include all the features.

In the wainscot library, you will find different heights for the wainscot. This is how I created the image.

Hope this helps
