Hi There. Just started using v20 on Mac sierra Have purchased & looked through Patricias ebook.
I have a few queries for help please.
When setting to A3 & scale 1:100, the 2d work area view has a border / work space much larger than A3.
Also, It is difficult to know where to position the drawing within the workspace.
I have drawn an a3 size rectangle which needs to be from top left corner of the work space to fit into the print space.
This seems a clumsy work around.

1 Is there a better way?

2 Is 1:100 the largest scale? This is somewhat inhibiting for a large site for a whole site plan.

3 To select the entire drawing & reposition into the best space within the A3, there doesn’t seem to be a select and drag option?

4 Snap doesn’t appear to work using the dimension or offset tool.
Can you offer any advice please.

Hi there,

In Punch there are 2 important concepts related with printing.

1 - The space where you develop your project is "The workspace". You will draw your property inside the workspace, but they don't have the same dimensions. You can see more information in the page 152 of the eBook.
For this reason, the A3 page is smaller than the workspace. Of course, check if the A3 title block is scaled.
2 - In order to print, Punch collects all the info in the plan, so if you have any object (even a dot) in any corner, Punch will consider it as part of the plan and will print it => in this case, this dot will modify all the page sizes and scales. You can see more tips, definitions, and images regarding this concept starting on page 264 of the eBook.

If you are interested, in my store, my Advanced Collection includes scaled 2d and 3D tile blocks, so you can set and move the exact paper size for plans and elevations

Yes, it is. But you can print to 50% (for example) to fit the desired paper size.

Select All => Move => Set the desired distances (Page 214 of the eBook)

Hi Patricia. Many thanks for your response/ answers. I am getting it. It is a different logic / process to what I am used to..

So to get 1:200 scale, I simply set the Design Plan Scale to 1:100 & the page setup to 50%. Easy. Different process to what I am accustomed.

Same with shifting all the components. I need to Select, Edit, Move entire plan & use either Cartesian Or Polar coordinate systems. There is no drag tool. This is certainly a little clumsy compared to what I am accustomed to. I can see there will be limitations. I am used to selecting items & dragging them all to snap to another entity. Not sure how this will be achieved.

Actually, there are 3 different methods to move the elements and yes, you can drag the elements.
1 - The described method (Select All => Move => Set the desired distances) is (IMO) the most accurate method because you can write the exact distances.
2 - If you prefer to drag the elements, use => Select all (or select the desired elements) => point with the arrow => drag and drop as necessary (pointed with a red arrow in the image below).

3 - An alternative method that is perfect for small adjustments => Select all (or select the desired elements) => use the arrows in your keyboard to move the elements.
