Hi rdtompki,

At the left of the screen, you'll find the Cut away slider. With this tool, you can cut slices of your drawing, parallel to the view on the screen (front, left, etc)

Check the image attached

I had just started to use the cutaway slider in IDS and didn't see it in the EE view in 3000. Some of these icons are small even with my 19" screen and 2.25 diopter reading glasses, but I understand wanting to maximize the amount of screen area for design.

Hi rdtompki,

I have both versions of AS 3000 (V7 and V10) and their EE has cutaway slider. However, IDS has cutaway slider only in liveview (because it has not EE)

I'm attaching a screenshot of the EE in V10, the cutaway slider is outlined in red

Hope this helps

Patricia, Thanks, found the cutaway slider and the EE does produce the views I'm looking for. One problem, however, is that dimensions disappear after I've finished positioning them. They appear on the printout, but since the witness lines are the same color (as are the label) as the background the dimensions can't be further manipulated and the dimension lines that actual overlay a textured surface are essentially invisible. You can read the label, say 19" for example, but the witness lines are unseen so you can't tell what you're dimensioning. Any suggestions? I suspect I'm doing something wrong here. Thanks. Rick T

Hi Rick T

Glad to know that you found the EE. Perhaps you'll understand better if you think that you are drawing the dims on a board in front of the elevation, so the dims will disappear in 3 situations.
- If you rotate the building (the building is hiding the board with the dims)
- If you put the dims in the elevation and then you use the slider (because you'll be cutting the slice with the dims)
- Before you exit the EE, accept the changes, do the EE will save the info

Hope this helps

I'm working on my final layout for the carpenter and I'm still unable to "see" dimensions in the EE. The dimension appears when I'm in the act of defining it, but as soon as I click on the terminus (or the offset position) the dimension disappears. The dimensions are still there because if I move the view laterally (I'm not rotating or using the slider) the dimensions will flash momentarily. I can also select the dimensions and the handles appear (but no lines or text) and I can delete them. There must be someone else having this problem! Rick

Hi Rick,

Are your dims less than 12"?

Send me your plan with a short reminder of this post and I'll check it

Patricia, I get exactly the same behanvior using one of the sample templates. In fact, I've gotten the dimensions to "stick" (remain displayed) by double clicking the dimension tool (cross hair) after defining a dimension. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. I have not been able to duplicate this behavior with my own plan. I've got a question into Punch Software. Some of my dimensions are less than 12", but several are greater than 12". In any event I'll send you the file to see if you find the same behavior. Rick

I'm outputting from elevation editor by printing to Adobe writer, and coming up blank page. Any ideas? Frank

I'm outputting from elevaiton editor to layout manager at a scale of approx 1:100. The resolution of the elevaiton image is poor. i.e roof is jagged and text is getting very hard to read. Any suggestions on how I can get a higher resolution image from elevation editor? Frank

I've a topo terrain layer, which shows up in live view, but when I open elevation editor, it does not render, showing no grades, and those items that are designed to "float above terrain" sit at zero elevation. Any ideas? Frank

In elevation editor There is a way to anotate and dimension, but I can find no apparent way to show grade lines adjacent to buildings. Any ideas? Frank

Hi Frank,

Not all the PDF writers work with the EE. And some of them work according with the computer config, so... the only way is download a trial version and try...

Hi Frank

Click on the light bulb (right of the screen) and set the parameters to obtain a good image

Hi Frank,

After you show the grades (as detailed above), use the dim tool
