Hi Victor Piagentini,

Do you mean a wainscot?

In the Properties bar, select Trim--> (click on the black triangle close to the word Trim)--> Wainscot--> 48" (or other dimension). Drag and drop to apply on your wall. Texture as desired. Check the image attached.

Thank You. Just what I was looking for. Seems a little different to get to than other commands. Can you add a top brick of a different style or shape?

Hi Victor,

By definition, wainscot is a baseboard or panel in the lower part of a wall. Of course, you can texture the wall and the wainscot with different textures

Also, you can stack two walls, but you will have problems with doors and windows

In addition, you can try this work around:
- Power Tools--> Trim designer
- Develop a flat trim (a rectangular shape), and resize it with the height of the upper part of the wall you wish to texture
- Save it to the library
- Apply as crown molding
- Texture as desired

You can do this with the lower part of your wall creating and applying a Custom base trim

See the image attached

Seems like a simple thing but using help says to go to file menu and click on import and select DXF. There is nothing there except some custom workshop selection. I have an architect that has designed a house using AutoCad and has sent me the files to import. I can't figure out what to do with them.

Hi Duane Oglesby,

The Help file says
"Click the DXF/DWG Importer on the PowerTools bar. The Import dialog box is displayed."

The Power Tool bar is not the menu bar. You can see the difference in the Help file--> Nuts and bolts--> Window Layout

Returning to the DWG / DXF issue, go to the power tool bar (right side of the screen)--> DXF /DWG importer. Check the image attached

Hope this helps

The wizard will not permit the re-sizing of a refrigerator from 36" to 32"? Can these objects be modified and then moved into my drawing? Is there a fuller description of the kitchen objects, as the drawings are so small that it is difficult to discern the differences between cabinets?

Hi SCOlive,

With the cabinet wizard you can change the dims of the cabinet but not the the dims of the appliances

However, you can do this--> open your objects with the cabinet wizard--> File--> Export to 3D workshop. Then --> Open the 3D workshop--> File--> open --> open the cabinet you saved--> you can resize / modify all the objects or just the pieces.
To resize a piece with the 3D workshop--> edit--> ungroup--> select the piece--> Options--> objects size

Let us know if you need additional help

How can I get a background of the mountains or something other than the boring sky or night? I have as4000 and when you download the program, there are sample houses showed. In some of the houses , there are backgrounds of the mountains and things like that. Thanks, Caleb

Hi belacray,

Two options

The backgrounds are pictures used to complete the scenery, looking more "real"

You can use your own pictures or use the background pictures included with your Punch software (they are included with Punch Platinum and up)

To insert the Punch pictures
- Power Tools-> Photo view-> Open-> (look for the directory where your sw is installed, usually Program Files-> Punch XX)-> look for a file called Embellishments-> you will find backgrounds and boulders. Resize the pictures and set at the back of your drawing
- If you wish to use your own pictures, go to the directory where your pictures are. The procedure is the same

Other options
Power tools--> Materials workshop--> Import a different sky picture--> save it in the material library and use it as texture on the sky (remember to use the option "stretch"in the texture's size)

Let us know if you need additional help

Hi PD Mac

You can use File--> Print to scale or Print to fit page (to print the plans)
or
File--> Print live view to print the 3D images

You can use a PDF program. There are several (free) programs, they work as a virtual printer to create a PDF file, you can set the size of the paper and the quality. And after this process, the file is extremely easy to print or send the PDF to the print shop
You can see more info about PDF printing in this page of my website
http://www.punchhelpers.com/pdfprint.html

Other interesting (and free) resource is the DWF conversion. You can download the DWF writer for free in the Autodesk page and it works in the same way that the PDF writer (check with your print shop if the accept DWF files)
You can see more info about DWF printing in this page of my website

Note sure if my previous message got posted so... I'm in need of some addition very detailed ( apparently) instructions for getting section details from the Section Power Tool into the Layout manager. I've read the forum directions but my hard head is not getting it. I'm currently using 4000 series to design a building. Not used Section in the past. Appreciate any help. I've loaded the lastest updates.
