Hi jjjulien,

In my opinion, the best tool for this situation is the sloped lot section tool (9th icon in the topo designer) --> create the terraces and add points to set the shape accurately

To dig the area, use a top shape with negative elevation. Add a driveway with several points and set the elevation as " float above topography"

Hope this helps

Thanks for the relpy. I have tried what you suggested (I think!), but still can't seem to get the terraces to slope along their length since the slope and contour tools do not allow slope changes ALONG the lines, just between them. Also, how do cut into a terrace and have sloping lines into it. THe excavation tool seems to just dig a hole with straight-down sides.

Thanks again. I tried how you described and got--while by no means accurate--some kind of approximation of my terrain. I was hoping to just put in the pre-build contours and build into the land my present house and landscaping. But, I guess that isn't possible... Why oh why doesn't punch let you make alterations to the EXISTING terrain. This seems like such a basic and necessary thing for a landscape program?! Anyway, thanks again.

Hi jjjulien,

Of course you can do modifications. You can return to the Topo Designer all the times you consider necessary, just remember that, Each time you design / change elements in the Topo Designer, you must click the "Generate Topography" button to update the information. This button is in the right - up corner (check the image attached)
Don't forget to save the topography!

Hope this helps!
