Hi there,

First of all and unrelated with your question: download and install the free patch for your program at
http://patches.punchsoftware.com/

Create the perimeter first is not absolutely necessary but convenient in order to create the exterior wallset.

Not sure if I understand your last question "If so is there any other Punch software that I would be able to design in this matter? "

If you are interested, my e-books include your version (see links below)

Thank you for the information and sharing the links to your e-books.

In regards to my last question I was wondering if maybe this program is not suited for what I want to do. If I had to design the perimeter first.
I basically like to just design as my dream was to be an architect one day. That's not going to happen but I still like to play around with designing.

I know you can do a design with the room wizard but I prefer to use the exterior & interior wall tools. I'd just like for it to be able to keep the walls correct as I design. When I use the interior wall tool that wall should stay as an interior wall when I connect it to an exterior wall. If I'm designing a room and one wall is exterior and the other is an interior wall than it should stay that way. I'll see later if I can post a photo helping to show what I mean.

Thanks again.

Hi there,

You're welcome! :-)

As you know, your program is very old, and in this case, this is an issue.
Starting with version 14, the Punch programs have only one wall tool, and the exterior / interior walls are defined by the project, not by the tool.
In the image attached, you can see a screenshot showing a floor plan developed with a new version. As you can see, there is only one wall tool.

By the way, is that the version you'd recommend? I don't need an expensive program when I'm just doing it as a hobby.

Do you know if it's available on this website?

I'd also like to be able to design the basement level as well. How I'd set up the basement if it was my place.

Thanks again.

You're welcome!

The program are available in the main website. This is the complete list of products
http://www.punchsoftware...m/c-35-all-products.aspx

Regarding the program, the choice depends of your necessities, features, number of floors, etc.
You can see a comparison chart following this link

If you have questions regarding the programs, just let me know

I'd posted another post with an image of what I was talking about with the walls on my program that didn't seem to post. I think you know what I'm talking about anyway, but here it is;

As for a program I'd like something pretty much the same as I have. Being able to design the interior floor plan, seeing it in 3D view as well. I like the idea of adding furniture and the colour of the walls, etc. It is kind of neat that with it you can estimate the cost of construction.

Thanks again Patricia G. It seems like you do know a lot about these programs.

So if I wanted the same type of features I have now, it's still called Punch Home Design Platinum?
Just make sure it's version 14 or higher?

At least from what you mentioned it has the one wall tool and will resolve the issue I'm having. Seeing how my program is an old one.

You're welcome!
I work with these programs since 2001, I am beta tester and I wrote the e-books (and more e-books coming!!), so yes, you can say that I know one or two things about the programs :-D

There is no longer a Platinum version. Please, check this chart
http://www.punchsoftware...ion-is-right-for-me.aspx
and choose the desired features, number of floors, etc.
Or you can contact the order support dept.
http://support.encore.com/ordersupport/
to get info or sometimes, a discount.

I was looking and thinking of Punch! Home & Landscape Design 17.7. It sounds like it does a lot of what my other program does. However I was looking at reviews from people who bought it through Amazon and they weren't rating it very good. Here is one of the views I read:

" upgraded from an older product (3D Home Architect 3.0, a Windows 98 vintage program) and were very surprised that this newer software was different, yet no better. It doesn't include intuitive buttons or smart handles that you would expect in Windows XP vintage software. Moving between object types is clumsy. It also lacks many home design objects that are in current use. It doesn't autoupdate the floor plan area, and doesn't allow to exclude the garage area from the floor plan area."

I'd hate to download it and not like it at all. Not many stores around here sell Punch software. Only a couple and the one just had an interior only design.

I see if you do buy there is a Punch Download insurance. Are you familiar with what it's for?

Have you any experience with it? I know you may not what to recommend any one specific program, but what is your personal preference?

Did you contact the sales dept.?
http://support.encore.com/ordersupport/

This forum is user to user so I can't help you with your questions related with insurance, discounts, etc.
If you wish to know about the returns, check here http://support.encore.co...omerservice/refunds.aspx

FYI, 3D Home Architect Version 3 wasn't a Punch program so the reviewer is wrong (it is not possible to upgrade from 3DHA3 to Punch).
It is amazing that some users love to write a negative review in Amazon, but they don't ask questions at the Forum about or take the time to learn the program.

I like all the programs, I don't have a favorite :-)
