Hi Chris,

This is how I'd solve this issue (please, follow the explanation in the image attached)

Create one or more accessory walls (see green wall). The height should be 1"or 2"--> set the position in the plan--> set the elevation adequately to embed the accessory wall inside the roof (in the image it is partially outside the roof so you can see the effect)
Set the electrical fixtures on the wall--> set the elevation

Regarding the skylight, confirm if the cutout is 100% inside a piece of roof. See the possibilities for cutouts in the second image attached (in red what you can and in blue what you can't)
