Hi Brad Cooper,

Notice this important item of the help file:
"Your design must have a completely closed perimeter, drawn with exterior walls for the Roofing Wizard to draw a roof. If your design does not have a continuous perimeter, no roof will be drawn"

This is the way I use to check if all is connected
1 - verify if all the walls are exterior (I'd suggest to verify one by one)
2 - Select one wall and try to move it--> if they are linked, all the walls will be selected and will change the color
3 - select all the exterior walls and verify if there aren't "new" points in the walls (perhaps there is a forgotten wall...)

If you still experience problems, e-mail me the file and I'll check it

Hope this helps

Patricia,

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually found my problem shortly after I posted this issue - it always seems to work that way. I had done your step 1 and all walls were, in fact, exterior. I also looked over my drawing closely and all the exterior walls looked to be connected. I then 'zoomed in' on each connection point and found that one of the the points moved slightly as I selected each of the exterior wall segments that formed the connection. I was a little suprised as the wall segments appeared to be joined on the screen and the interior fill coloring indicated that the perimeter was closed. Anyway, I fixed the connection and the Roofing Wizard is working now.

I am having the same problems with my ceilings. Do the fixes mentioned here for roofs also apply to ceilings?

Hi Brad,

Not at all. The roofing issue is referred to the Roof Wizard Power Tool

Which is exactly your problem with the ceiling? Is with any Power Tool (You are in the PT section)

Let us know and we'll help you

Hi Brad

Because you need to define the elevation. This is valid for ceilings and objects

Draw the ceiling with the Floor tool
Select the ceiling / object --> Edit--> Set object elevation--> write the desired elevation

or

Select the ceiling / object --> right click the elevation slider--> write the desired elevation

or

Select the ceiling / object--> right click on the piece--> Set elevation--> write the desired elevation

Hope this helps

Hi jeremy voda

Notice this important item of the help file:
"Your design must have a completely closed perimeter, drawn with exterior walls for the Roofing Wizard to draw a roof. If your design does not have a continuous perimeter, no roof will be drawn" So check this for the 2nd and 3rd floors

This is the way I use to check if all is connected
1 - verify if all the walls are exterior (I'd suggest to verify one by one)
2 - Select one wall and try to move it--> if they are linked, all the walls will be selected and will change the color

I am using Prof. Home Design Plat. Suite, trying to draw a roof. One side of the roof (the lowest) coincides with the exteror wall while the other is way above the exterior wall. This leaves a big gap between the walls and the roof. Please help me to this gap.

Many thanks.

BTW, is there any tutorial of roofing? different types? How to create them?

I am remodelling an Adobe style building which has the roof as its ceiling. I wanted to paint the ceiling black, dragging black texture to the ceiling in liveview - and it did not do so!
Can you help explain why? What did I do wrong?

Many thanks.

Hi newanhtiff

Draw the sides with the freehand roof (roofing tab)--> change the pitch as necessary

You can check the help section of your sw for tutorials

Hi newanhtiff

I guess you've Plat 4.5.1., so it doesn't apply textures on the bottom of a roof

How can I make a simple "A" shaped gable wall? None of the wall styles show this shape. Yes, I am a beginner, and yes there is probably a simple answer, but still need help... WHich style would I use?
