Slide1.JPG (74kb) downloaded 0 time(s).Using Ver. 20.0.0.1015; Windows 7 Professional
When rendering photo mode the program stops working.
I get the following message: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program
and notify you if a solution is available."
This happens both on my desktop and laptop. It happens in any file that I may be working on.
It is also getting more frequent. This has been going on for several months, but I ignored at first until it became so frequent.
A screen shot of error note is attached.

Hi Tom,

This can be one of several issues, so I'll need additional information:

1 - Does this problem happen with any file (just four walls, for example) or just with large files? => if so, please inform the size of the file, approximately is fine.
2 - Does this problem happen after you render the image several times without closing the file or does it happen after you open the file and immediately, you render an image?
3 - Can you inform about your computer's hardware (memory, video card, etc)

1. Seems to be most files. Sizes are from 2,600 KB to 16,390 KB. Most files are fully designed homes.
2. Can happen anytime, first opening or after working in file for a while.
3. Computer Dell Precision Tower 5810; Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M520 2.40GHz; Installed memory 8 GB;
64-bit; Graphics card AMD Firepro W5100 4 GB memory. Windows 7 Professional 64 BIT.

Hi Tom,

I think that there are a few issues, but basically I'd say that, for photorealistic rendering of large files, your computer needs more hardware resources

- Your video card is integrated => usually, these cards don't get a good performance for rendering purposes. Anyway, I'd suggest that you update the video card driver (I believe that they released an update last week)
- Large files need more memory, probably 8Mb is not enough.

Try these steps
1 - Update all your drivers.
2 - Test a small file (1,000 Kb or less, for example) => try to render and see if it crashes.
3 - Go to => Edit => Preferences => System => Graphics => Hardware Acceleration. By default, the level of the accelerations is "Full" => Move the control to the center and see if the problem is solved (you need to close / open the program so the change takes effect) . If not, move the control to the left (None) => check if the problem is solved.

Some tips => always, the best option is the rational use of resources.
1 - Develop the constructive aspects of house first, (walls, roof, floors, doors, windows, etc.) and add the furniture at the end.
2 - Develop the topography with a low quality definition.
3 - To use fewer resources, use the Render Options: hide the unnecessary elements and reduce the quality. These options can be changed later.
4 - Working in Clear View mode increases the speed.
5 - If you are working in the interior of the house, deactivate the topography.
6 - If you are working in the exterior of the house, deactivate the interior furniture and interior lights.

Hope this helps.

Please note the following about the hardware:
Computer does have a discreet graphics card. AMD Firepro W5100 with 4 GB of memory.
Not sure if you read that correctly. Please let me know.
I will try the other options you suggested.

Yes, I read this information and checked the specs online. This is why I wrote that AMD released an update last week (on January 17th) as you can see in this page.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue on V19 of Home Pro then I up graded to Architecture V20 and it is just as bad. I had no problems with V12. I have random crashes, destroyed files while trying to save. I have a Asus crossblade ranger motherboard, an AMD A7850 Ryzen processor. I had a Evga GTX 1200 video card. I was told by many it appeared to be the video card and or the power supply. I bought a 750w power supply and a new EVGA 1080 gtx with 8MB on board memory, n DSC02171.JPG (120kb) downloaded 1 time(s). DSC02170.JPG (137kb) downloaded 0 time(s). DSC02168.JPG (135kb) downloaded 0 time(s).othing changed. Nvida blames the software, encore blames the computer. I have tried everything I can think of. I sent NVida and encore copies of my crash reports. Nvida told me it appears that the software is having issues operating in a 64 bit windows 10 environment. I loaded the software onto a 8 year laptop running windows XP and it appears to work but real slow because of the memory and the processor limitations

1 - Punch V12 didn't feature "Phorealistic Rendering", therefore, you can't compare the rendering engines (V12 vs V20)

2 - I've 2 Win 10 64 bit computers and never had a problem with Phorealistic Rendering.

3 - The problems with the crashes / rendering engine are always related with the following reasons:
- Integrated video cards (videochips) => although they work fine for gaming, they are not good for rendering.
- Old video cards (their drivers don't match the current programs' drivers).
- Not enough memory to manage large files, with lots of furniture, imported elements, very detailed topography, etc.
- Successive photo realistic renderings of large files, without restarting the program / video card.

Hope this helps.
