I've tried importing various pics of stone materials. They import fine, but when I find them in User library, and apply (drag) them to the design, my MacBook Pro (2017 running Catalina) crashes.

Now, Materials are not even showing up under the 'Content' tab. I'm running Landscape Design 2o v 20.0.1

Please help!

Hi there,

What happens when you apply a texture from the program's library?

Can you share the size (in Mb) of the PRO file?

Hi Patricia:

The size of the Pro file is 2.4 MB. Not a lot.

Until recently, when I applied materials from the standard library, everything worked fine. However, now after several crashes after trying to import custom materials, the Materials are not even showing up in the Content drop down, only 2D Symbols, 3D Objects, Plants and Templates.

When I use the colour picker from the 3D view to identify materials on the building (such as previously applied Stucco), it misidentifies everything as Backgrounds and Sky.

It seems like the program isn't functioning as designed any more. If I reinstall the program, will I lose my design (weeks of work!)?

Thx - Axel

Hi there,

Not sure how the screenshot is related with the issue? Are you importing the materials to the 3D Objects library?

The screenshot is related to show you that now my options under Content no longer include 'Materials'. That whole set of content is no longer available to me. This standard drop down option has simply disappeared.

In trying to import materials, which resulted in several system crash, I am no longer able to see even standard materials, like stone and stucco, that were and should be available to me.

Can you share a full screenshot showing the 2D / 3D workspace and the libraries? Something like this:

Capture.JPG (39kb) downloaded 4 time(s).

Note that the Materials library can be accessed only if a 3D View window is opened.

Totally weird, but the Materials drop down option has reappeared now. And yes, I always had a 3D window open. You need that in order to use the eyedropper tool. :)

So for now, the issue is trying to get the Material import to work. Is there a trick to prevent the system from crashing? The importing seems to work, in that it creates .ppv, .pti, and .ptx files in a directory called CustomTextures. But it crashes when I select the imported material from the User Library and try to drag and apply to a surface in the 3D view. I've tried various high-res, low-res imports, square as well as rectangular jpg, all with the same crashing result.

Sounds like a hardware / video card issue.

I'd recommend that you contact tech support so they can check the issues in your computer (software and hardware), OS settings, etc. as well as your system, limitations, etc. They are the experts for these problems.

Will do. I doubt it is a hardware/ OS issue. I use this laptop for some demanding Adobe applications, and everything is up to date. But I will contact them.

Questions:
- Have you used this material import feature successfully yourself?
- If I reinstall the Landscape Design 20 app, will I lose any part of my existing work?

Regarding your questions:

The Adobe applications are image programs (I have the full Adobe CC myself). The Punch titles are Home Design programs, so they work in a different way. Particularly regarding the accelerations.

Sure. If you check my website, you will see that I am an experienced user (since 2001), a Beta tester, the eBooks writer (41 titles and counting), and in addition, I sell different collections (materials, objects, etc). All my collections include full instructions (English and French) for the installation in Mac and Windows systems. Therefore, all my customers imported textures without problems.

Do you mean your PRO files? Nope, they will work fine.

Good luck with your projects.
