V21 .0.0.1013 Home Design Professional, window 10
I created a design with a shed roof... rafters (in effect trusses)are 30 inches in depth...
On framing editor , I have made the changes to 2x30.
They show up in 3D framing view....
For an accurate outside view .... I have to add the .... 30 inches to wall eight and roof elevation.
For accurate inside view of ceilings, I have to use wall heights and roof elevation without the truss depth.
Is there any way to have the roof show as 40 inches thick in the 3d view... and have the ceiling as 30 inches below the roof.
Any guidance would be helpful.

Hi there,
Yes, you can create a faux roof bottom => use the tools in the Ceiling Designer Power Tool (Design => Launch Power Tool)

Hope this help. Hi thanks for your answer I can see, using ceiling power tool , how to draw a ceiling lower than the auto-ceiling, however it is flat. If the ceiling at the back is 9 feet and at the front it is 12'9'' - shed roof- how do you draw a 'shed ceiling' lower than roof? Also how do you get the 3D view to show the roof thickness from 2x30 trusses.?

You can use the Ceiling beams (in the Ceiling Designer PT) => modify the dimensions and pitch. If you prefer, you can create a Custom 3D Roof using the 3D Workshop PT. Originally Posted by: Gil.Charles

If you use the beams or a 3D object, you will see the thickness. Regarding the images => In 3D, the thickness of the roof is always 6 inches, but, as I stated, you can increase the thickness with the beams or 3D objects. Hope this helps. |
