Hi Patricia,

I'm working on a PC with Home and Landscape Design, Architectural Series version 20.0.3.1019

I know from previous posts that the estimator program can be very accurate, depending on how detailed the model is.

My question has to do with finishing a basement (but think of it as building a room). I'll layout a basement (which, of course, is built out within an existing structure), then move all the walls to the 2nd level (thinking the program may get confused if I leave it at a foundation level). So now I have (let's say) just 4 walls. No floor, no ceiling (typically when finishing a basement, we would not need either of those components)

I want to be able estimate the number of studs that will be required to build out the room. The estimator program seems to do a very good job of estimating the studs needed, but I don't see where the wall's top and bottom plates are accounted for.

Are they in the "scrap" category? Part of flooring?

As always, I appreciate your help!

Best,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Unfortunately, the top and bottom plates are not detailed in the Bill of Materials (Estimator).
