I want to put my Drawings on CD and take them to a Plotter and have the printed out to scale...

Hi wirenut,
The best way I know is converting your Punch files into PDF files. Actually, Kinko's is just accepting PDF files

Hi Patricia,
Each time I save a file as pdf it seems to work okay, but when I try to view the file with the pdf reader, I get an error message.
Do you know why this is the case?

Hi chuckleal,
I guess I know which is the problem. Just to confirm, can you tell me about the text of the error message? Can you open the file (partially)? Other applications are working OK with PDF printing?

The error message reads as follows: Acrobat could not open file.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
This file does not open at all but other pdf files open okay.
I should add that, I have Arch Series 18 and only Acrobat reader.

Hi chuckleal,
I guess we have a misunderstanding. To create a PDF file, you must have a PDF writer or Adobe Photoshop, or other Adobe product (not the free PDF reader) or other software with PDF writer
If you check in the web, you will find some free applications

Is Punch software capapble to print blueprints usable for the permitting process, engineers, builders, etc. or is this software simply to help in visualization? Bottom line, do I still need to go to a professional to do the blueprints? I look everywhere on the box and in the literature and all I can tell is that this is a visualization tool. Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
It will depend of the requirements of your building department. These requirements are different in each county.
I am finishing a project in Indiana and the requirements are different from the requirements of other project I did in Texas and different from other project I did in Florida.
You can draw with Punch most of these requirements, but it doesn't replace the Architect or Designer or Engineer to verify codes, calculate structure, etc.
Also, some counties ask for some standards for presentation.
So, my suggestion is: check the requirements with your building department.
