Hi schenky,

You don't need to import / export the plan. Just go to Power Tools--> Elevation editor (is the first Power Tool)
Once the EE opens, you'll see five tabs (Front, Back,Left, Right and Custom), so you can select the elevation. In the Custom tab you can rotate the house to see the elevation in a certain angle
You can see the elevations in clear view mode or rendering materials. In addition you can develop cross section with the help of the Cut-Away slider (left side of the screen)

Hope this helps

Thanks, but I don't have a building designed with punch. All I have is the front elevation imported with trace image. I have to manipulate it to see what it looks like, with different Bricks etc.

Hi schenky,

You are welcome!
The elevation editor is a Power Tool intended to generate the elevations of a Punch file.
Punch is a 3D home design program, so a 2D CAD elevation is useless in a 3D environment
The only CAD files that you can import in Punch are 2D floorplans: you can import them (Power Tools--> DXF/DWG importer) and then you can convert the lines into walls, stairs, etc

Once you have AS 4000, I'd suggest to develop the Punch version of your house and then apply materials and colors to the 3D images

Hope this helps

Hi again, I must be dense. I designed my 4 exterior walls in punch rather than importing it, and added the windows. When I go into the Elevation Editor it only shows me the height up to the middle of the windows. How do I get it to show the full height of the wall and how can I make separate sections so that I can use different materials for different sections? Thanks

Hi schenky,

Separate sections? do you mean vertical divisions?. To do this, use the wall break tool (plan toolbar-->6th icon)
For the horizontal, you can use the wainscot tool (Properties bar--> trim)

EE is supposed to show all the wall. Sometime, in clear view, the upper limit of the wall is not clear. You can use then rendered view to check this
In addition you can do the following test: draw a gable wall and a roof and check if you can see all the elements with the EE.

Hope this helps

Sorry to bother you so much. I figured out the height problem. But how do I break the exterior wall both horizontally and vertically to apply different textures? Thanks again

Hi schenky,
As I stated above, for vertical divisions, in the main program, use the wall break tool (plan toolbar-->6th icon)
For the horizontal, you can use the wainscot tool (Properties bar--> trim)

Hi John Capaleni,

In the properties bar--> Material tab--> Stucco (the 4th category)
And, as you have AS 4000 (your question is in the AS 4000 section), you can import your own picture and convert it in a new texture (using the material workshop)
Hope this helps

Hi John Capaleni,

- You can draw the wall--> select it--> Edit--> rotate--> write the angle (- or +)
- Repeat the same with the second wall
- Join the walls

Hope this helps

Hi, I finely figured everything out. I used the wainscot tool for my bottom horizontal texture and the crown trim tool for my top horizontal texture. I just have to add one more horizontal trim in the middle. How can I do it? Trim only allows top and bottom. Is there any work around? Thanks again.

Patricia, I want to create a 2'6" high stone wainscoat on a eight foot Stucco wall. The Trim tool allows for a wnsct of 8" and I find no custom taab or properties tab to change height. Can you help please. Terry

Hi Terry

Look for the Trim tab (preview bar, right of your screen)--> look for a black triangle close to the word trim--> click--> Wainscot--> there are different sizes between 36" to 60" (the 8"is just for baseboards)

Other resource for Punch AS 4000--> create a Custom trim with the wainscot shape (a rectangle shape is enough (Power Tools--> Trim designer) set the H= 30"

Hope this helps
