Hi Lloyd
First question, is your roof feasible? Second, are you trying to develop it exclusively with the roof wizard? Roofs with different wall heights must be created with the roof tools (roofing tab), specially the Freehand roof
However, the definition of a hip roof is "A type of roof containing sloping planes of the same pitch on each of four sides and a central ridge" Therefore, if the pitches are = and the ridge is in the middle, I can't see how to create a perfect hip with different wall heights
Of course, if you wish, you can send me your plan (with a short reminder of this post) and I will check it

As long as all of the walls under the 4 sides of a hip are the same height, you should have no problem. If they are not, you will have to draw it in a CAD program or by hand. The only way I can see you having say 3 ten ft walls and a 12 ft wall, would be if the perimeter wall dogged in until it reached 12'. It would be a somewhat odd looking roof. But I can visualize what it would look like.

Tomorrow I will post the problem and solution of Lloyd's roof
Don't worry, Jim, I didn't need CAD to solve the problem. Punch has nice tools, if you know how to learn how to use them ;-)

Hi,
As promised, this is the feedback of the case of Lloyd's roof. In this way, we can learn
I received Lloyd's plans on Friday. The main problem was the use of Punch's hip roofs (rectangles) in a multishape - multilevel plan. In addition, even in the areas where a rectangular hip roof was OK, the area was not enough to develop the pitch x length (Please, check image Roof ml1.JPG)
In my opinion, in these situations, the only valid tool is the freehand roof, because you must tailor each piece individually. And in this specific situation, the Roof Wizard doesn't provide help, because there are 5 different levels The roof I developed with the freehand tool is in the image Roof ml2.jpg Note: all the pieces are Punch roofs elements (I didn't use the 3D workshop)
Thanks to Lloyd (he authorized the use of these images in the Forum)
Hope this helps
