I am using Architectural Series 4000 latest version. When I try and add color to the walls of my room it changes the OUTSIDE sky to the color chosen. I have used templates to see if it is the way I am drawing the walls; I have used the Room Wizard to eliminate possible poision pills, I have tried to change the walls BEFORE I add windows and doors..I have gotten as close as possible to the wall without going through... tried midway in the room..nothing works.
I read and did the Commandment below!
"When I try to texture something, the texture gets all over another wall (or the ground surface)."
When Punch! creates an opening in a wall for a door or window, it does this by drawing the opening on the wall and marking that shape transparent. That works fine, but the wall is still there. When you "shoot" texture through the opening towards another object, it will hit the transparent surface first, and Punch! will then color the wall (the part of it that's not transparent) rather than what you were shooting at. The same thing goes for the hole in the terrain created by the excavation tool or by the grass cutting effect of a building's exterior walls. To fix this, get closer to the object to be textured, so the transparent wall is behind you rather than between you and where you are aiming. This ia a particular problem for doors; only the near edges of the door frame (if it opens away from you) can be reached for texturing.
STILL CAN'T GET IT TO WORK.
What in the world am I doing wrong? Please help, I am at a loss as to what to try next.

Hi Nonna, The walls and openings are not the problem here The texture in the sky is a symptom of video card problem. Try these steps 1 - Check the website of your video card manufacturer and update the drivers 2 - Go to www.microsoft.com/directx, and see what version is current and check if you have this version installed in your computer 3 - Right click on the wallpaper (look for a place without icons)--> Properties--> Settings--> Advanced--> Open GL--> Compatibility Settings--> Force 16 bits--> Apply--> OK 4 - Set your video color depth at 24 or 32 bits ("true color") 5 - Go to the video driver setup on your PC (may be different for different versions of Windows and video card); for most, click on an empty part of the windows desktop, , click on Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot). Back the accelerations slider all the way to the left, turning off accelerations--> OK Hope this helps Patricia |
