Hi Pat1217
First, two important notes
Screen saver: you must deactivate the screen saver, it interferes with the Animator operation
Browser and other programs: while working with the Animator, you screen must show only the Animator operation. Other programs, including email, browser, etc, must be closed
Regarding the Animator settings, the time depends of several items
- Characteristics of your computer: different configs provide different results, times, etc. Not knowing your configuration, is hard to provide a diagnostic
- Characteristics of the project. A project with lots of 3D objects, topography, etc takes more time to render than a small house in a flat lot
- Animator settings: the frames/second setting, video display size, export quality (all located in the video tab) add work time to the Animator process. Example 25 frames / second will take more time than 15 frames
- Other applications: you must deactivate the screen saver, it interferes with the Animator operation
Browser and other programs: while working with the Animator, you screen must show only the Animator operation. Other programs, including email, browser, etc, must be closed
As the Animator is a sequence of screenshots, all the messages in the screen will be recorder
I'd suggest the creation of a simple movie with 2 or 3 walls and 2 viewpoints and register the times as you add features
As reference: Few months ago I developed a movie for a presentation. It was the opening of a shopping center overseas.
Some images at
http://www.punchhelpers.com/commercial2.html http://www.punchhelpers.com/commercial5.html http://www.punchhelpers.com/commercial15.html I developed the whole building in 5 segments and I created the movies by segment. Each segment (inserted in a work space of 800 x 800 ft, no topography) the size of the Punch files are between 5 to 8 Mb. It took more or less 15 to 20 hours to render (each segment) with good quality, large video size and 15 frames per second. I plan to do a "public movie session" with this work as soon as possible
In the meantime, check this sample elaborated with the Animator. Notice that this movie was edited after Punch, to add music. As it is a big file, depending of your connection, it may take few minutes to load
