Hi FS,

If you intend to do your Punch model "by the book" ;-) and use the exact elements in order to set the Framing editor, Estimator, etc, the answer is yes, you should add small segments of wall (one for each step)--> set the height and elevation to fit the stairs

However, if you are looking for a work around for visualization purposes, they you can try this

1 - Go to your Door Designer Power Tool and create an empty frame (just the frame without the door folder) with the exact shape and size of the opening under the the staircase
2 - create a full wall beside the staircase
3 - Insert the empty frame your created--> set dimensions, elevations, etc
4 - use your creativity to hide the frame "legs" :-D (inside the walls, inside two nice columns ?)

Here is another way to get a regular wall to follow the staircase. Create a short wall segment, select the wall and change the wall style to the bottom selection or 3rd from the bottom (will change side angle is on). Enter 1 inch for one side, ceiling height for overall height, then change pitch to match staircase. You might have to playaround with the settings a little to get what you want. It will also show correctly in the framing editor. Let me know if more explaining is needed. I'll try to show a picture. <img src="http://members.aol.com/myimageplace/Punch5.jpg"> Karl
