Hi Andy,
Some notes
1 - To set the roof elevation manually (independent of the notes below)--> select the roof piece(s)--> Edit--> Set object elevation--> write the desired elevation or Select the roof piece(s)--> right click the elevation slider--> write the desired elevation
2 - If you are using the Roofing Wizard to create the roof, remember that the Wizard will generate the roof(s) of the area enclosed between exterior walls. So, if the 16'exterior walls are not 100 % linked, creating a completely closed perimeter, the wizard will disregard this area. But if the 8' walls are linked, the wizard will create a roof for this area This is the way I use to check if all the walls are connected A - verify if all the walls are exterior (I'd suggest to verify one by one) B - Select one wall and try to move it--> if they are linked, all the walls will be selected and will change the color C - select all the exterior walls and verify if there aren't "new" points in the walls (perhaps there is a forgotten wall...)
3 - If the roof will be located at 16', go to Design--> Default ceiling height and set 16'as the elevation for the first level, so it will be set automatically each time you draw it

Thanks Patricia. I'll check the walls first and see what happens when I try the rest of your suggestions.
Can't wait until I get to try my hand at a REAL house!! :)

All the walls verified as exterior. I notice that when I moved an exterior wall, only the two abeam walls changed color. I moved all four just to be sure. Also, evertime I selected a wall the endpoints were at the corners (as they were supposed to be). Changing the default ceiling was the thing that did it for me.
Once again, thanks for your help. I'll be sure to bug everyone again later!!
