Hi John LaRegina

The texture going to the sky or the grass is a symptom of a video card problem. Try these steps

1 - Check the website of your video card manufacturer and update the drivers

2 - Go to www.microsoft.com/directx, and see what version is current and check if you have this version installed in your computer

3 - Right click on the wallpaper (look for a place without icons)--> Properties--> Settings--> Advanced--> Open GL--> Compatibility Settings--> Force 16 bits--> Apply--> OK

4 - Set your video color depth at 24 or 32 bits ("true color")

5 - Go to the video driver setup on your PC (may be different for different versions of Windows and video card); for most, click on an empty part of the windows Desktop, click on Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot). Back the accelerations slider to the left, one level each time and see if the problem dissapears

You will find several discussions about this in this forum--> perform a search with the words "sky + texture"

On the "Pro" versions there are tons of custom marterials and not on the 4000 version. How can I get those marterials??

Hi George Wiley,

If you use AS 4000 V10. you can use the Punch Updater (Right top of the screen) to download more materials, objects, etc

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried some of them and did a few more based on your list. No help. But I think I can live with it for now. I only use the software to design Frank Lloyd Wright houses that I build out of foam core. Using the plain solid 3D works fine so I can see what I'm doing. I draw the textures and create colors using another graphics program to print out textures for the models so I really don't NEED the color 3D on the screen. Just looks nice. And I can use my office PC or the old laptop if I really want color and texture. If I should find out what's going on with the Dell (their "support" is useless but I like that I can configure and buy on-line) I'll post. Thanks

Hi John LaRegina, Are the objects you are trying to texture below 0" elevation? If they are, this could cause your texture to apply to the grass. Try lowering your walk-through elevation to a negative number. You can do this by going to view-->3D viewing method-->walk-though elevation. When the dialog box appears, enter a negative number like -24. Try to add your textures again. Also remember, you can not apply a texture to an interior wall through a door or window. You must be inside the room where you want the texture applied. D-C

Hi John LaRegina

I am a FLW enthusiast too!! (I am an architect)
I developed few Prairie Style homes, and I created the FLW corner window as Punch Object (POB)
If you (or other Punch users) wish this window, just let me know

Returning to your problem,in your post you are mentioning "plain solid 3D"--> check if you are working in Clear view mode instead of rendered view mode
