I too have problems with Live View on my laptop. I believe that Live View uses OpenGL for its rendering. Not all computer manufacturers implement updated OpenGL drivers for their machines, HP for one. You might check to see if you have the most up to date drivers for your video card.

Of course HP allows updated Open GL. HP is the computer manufacturer, not the video card manufacturer
Try this solution for live view crash:
- Right click on the wallpaper (look for a place without icons)--> Properties--> Settings--> Advanced--> Open GL--> Compatibility Settings--> Force 16 bits--> Apply--> OK
(For some ATI models the tabs are different, just look for the OpenGL tab)
- Restart your computer
- Open a new drawing in Punch --> draw a wall--> render to final quality and check if the above procedure fixed the problem

Your fix did work -- thank you!
However, I'm not sure what that setting does to my graphics card. Can you please explain?
(It appears that my graphics, in general, now appear to be more grainy -- but perhaps that is simply my imagination.)
Since this reply is nearly a year later, if Patricia is no longer there; please, anyone, respond to my question!

No application, I was only looking at some fine details on my desktop. But I "recycled" your fix and couldn't see (from memory anyway) any difference now -- so let's say it must have just been my imagination.
I would be interested, though, just out of curiosity, to know what your fix does inside the graphics card. If you have the time...
