Hi Verlin,

Don't worry, there are not dumb questions!!:-)

Log walls in Punch are just framed walls textured with a log texture.
Once the wall is textured, you can add the log objects (corners, beams, etc) for a realistic visualization

Hope this helps

Patricia Thanks so much for the guidance. I replaced the textures and they work as you described. They seem to have aliasing, changing appearance as the viewing angle changes. Maybe I need to change my resolution settings on the windows screen. Verlin

Hi Verlin,

Try this:
Close you sw
Go to the Start Menu--> Settings--> Display--> Settings--> Advanced--> Troubleshoot (Or right click on the Desktop --> Properties--> Settings--> Advanced)--> Accelerations--> move the notch to NONE--> Apply--> OK

Open Punch and check if the problem is still there
In addition, are your drivers up to date?

Hope this helps

when I put windows into my log walls you can't see through them as in other walls. It doesn't open a space for them but puts them on top of the walls. Is there a way we can fix this? It doesn't matter so much that I can't see through them in the viewing as it matters as it will affect the amount of logs used in the estimate. Thanks! Tracy

Hi Tracy,

We must clarify some points here

- The only objects available in Punch to create holes in the walls are the doors and windows located in the toolbar of the floor tab (7th and 8th icons)
- These Punch entities will be accounted in the Estimator
- The 81 log objects are just this, objects in the same way that a stove or a chair are. So the windows will not create a hole in the wall and any of the log objects will be accounted in the estimator

Hope this helps

Thanks for anwering Patricia... Its just that I can't put doors and windows where there are no walls...so then I can't draw the logs around them. So I have to create walls which will be accounted for in the estimates too... Maybe I could put in the walls and doors in little short walls and draw the logs around them? Yikes!! It is a bit complicated to mess with and think about! Can Punch fix this problem and put in a download to make the log walls act like the stick built walls so they accept and make room for the windows and doors? It is really a necessary feature. Thanks!! Tracy

Tracy,

IMO the best resource is --> raw a Punch wall--> insert a Punch window --> put the log window covering it. However, as I stated, the log window will not be accounted in the estimator

We (people answering questions at the Forum) are volunteers, so we don't know Punch plans for future features....

Hi Paul Dorward,

In addition, all the Punch versions starting with Punch AS 18 V6 and up have a category (Objects) called "log house". You will find columns, beams, etc

Hope this helps
