I am designing a 3 story home. One which needs to go to an architect for review in the coming few days. Every time I try to do the roofing wizard, a roof is drawn over the entire first floor, this protrudes through the floor of the second story. There is no roof drawn over exposed areas of the second story. The third story is the only roof which comes out nicely. I have set parameters for floors and ceilings on all floors, can anyone help???

Hi Bryan Roberts This issue happens when the exterior walls are not linked Notice this important item of the help file: "Your design must have a completely closed perimeter, drawn with exterior walls for the Roofing Wizard to draw a roof. If your design does not have a continuous perimeter, no roof will be drawn" So check this for the 2nd and 3rd floors This is the way I use to check if all is connected 1 - verify if all the walls are exterior (I'd suggest to verify one by one) 2 - Select one wall and try to move it--> if they are linked, all the walls will be selected and will change the color 3 - select all the exterior walls and verify if there aren't "new" points in the walls (perhaps there is a forgotten wall...) If you still experience problems, e-mail me the file and I'll check it Hope this helps Patricia [email protected] |

I checked Bryan's plan, and I found the problem
The 3dr floor elevation (192") was not the sum of the height of the 1st floor (108")+ the 2nd floor (144). And it was different from the settings of the Default Ceiling Heights (Design menu) This is visible in the image attached
So, this issue has a very easy solution: set the wall elevations
Thank you to Bryan to allow the publication of the image and feedback
Hope this helps!

I am unable to get the wizard to draw a roof on my second floor. I've read the suggestions, My exterior walls all connect, they are all the same height, and I've set the elevation, yet the wizard continues to draw the roof on the first floor. I don't know what else to do. I saw where someone offered to look at a file. Is that offer still open, who do I send it to? thanks, Nelson
