Hi Donna,

Are you working in the Quick Start mode? If so, keep in mind that the Quick start mode is just this, a fast layout. Therefore, after you press the "Continue" button you will be able to Save, Import files, Print, Move as well as use all the Punch features, including the Power Tools.

Hi Patricia, I've imported the CAD drawing, but it appears blank in Punch. I've downloaded your tutorial "learning-punch-software-r-mini-tutorials.pdf", and it says to get free CAD software from your Facebook page, but I can't find the recommended software there. Can you tell me what free CAD software you recommend that will help me import into Punch?
Thanks!

Hi there,

In my Facebook page you'll find a link close to the bottom of page (I'm not in my computer now)
Anyway, any free CAD program will help.

Hi Patricia,
Thanks, I downloaded the trial version of AutoCAD 2016. Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck with merging all the visible layers, etc. Is there a more intuitive program you can recommend?
Thanks,
Donna

Hi there,

Try Double Cad or Draftsight.
Both brands offer a free version.

Hi there,

Home Design Studio Complete 19 is a Mac program and Punch! Interior Design 19 is a Windows program, so are we talking about the same problem with 2 different computers?
When you say "will not let me import" => what do you mean? are you receiving any error message?
Try to detail the problem as specifically as possible, so we can understand the issue. Let us know exactly what you want to do, what you tried, what seems broken, etc.
If you wish to post images --> follow these steps:
- upload your picture to a free online photo album like Photobucket or Flickr or Picassa, for example
- Look for the link of your picture (usually, photo albums provide a "link for a forum" script) --> copy the full URL --> Paste the link in your post.

As a general rule, once you are in the main program, you should use File => Import => DXF / DWG. For Interiors V19, for example, the screen should look as the image attached.

If you experience problems to import the file, you can follow this tutorial in my website:
http://www.punchhelpers.com/acadtutorial.html

Patricia? Did my last message not post?

I am using Home Design Studio Complete 19 (for Mac)
Punch! Interior Design 19 (for Mac).

When I am in the program and go to Import, I only get these options:
Import
- Punch 3D object...
- SketchUp Object ...
- Image to 3D Material Library
- Image to Plant Library
- Background Image

None of these allow dwg or DXF files???

Hi Karla,

This is the first message that I am receiving from you regarding this subject, so I think that it didn't go through.

RE: the DXF / DWG files => these are the available features for the V19 programs for Mac => http://www.punchsoftware.com/c-33-which-mac-version-is-right-for-me.aspx
None of them imports DXF / DWG files.

Hi, when I import .skp objects, I can't find them anywhere after the import. Where do these objects go? (Mac complete v19).

It appears I can only import in 2D (import .skp is always greyed-out in 3D views). I assume that's normal?

thanks!

Michael

Hi Michael,

Probably, it is a problem with the SKP version.
Check this tutorial in my Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/punchhelpers/pats-tip-9/1082950091777230/

Yes, you can import objects only in 2D mode.
