OK, maybe some one can help me understand how basements work in Punch!
If I create a plan with a basement the project setup makes total sense to me. It even shows the walls for the basement being "Thicker"
What I do not understand is that when I start drawing the basement walls (and view in 3D - framing) I see that the walls are actually wood framed walls and not the actual foundation I expect. My assumption was that the basement walls would be Block or concrete and much thicker than the walls above (a foundation). What makes it more confusing for me is that when you select the "Foundation" tab, it appears to draw the block foundation around the basement walls I draw. To me it seems that the walls I am drawing for the basement are actually the walls that should be in front of the basement foundation wall if I were going to finish or create rooms in the basement.
I'm not sure if I am making sense but hopefully someone can explain the basements in punch!
Thanks!

Hi there,
In the main program => Draw the basement walls => define the desired thickness => right click => Framing properties => Define the structural materials. Wood is the default framing material, unless you define another material.
Hope this helps. |

Thanks!
I have one last question, I promise :-) Is there a way (shortcut key?) to specify the exact number for a measurement? e.g. I want to draw a wall of 20'. Is there a way to do this by selecting the endpoint and then entering the value of 20' or do you always have to drag the line?
Thanks

Hi there,
- You can set the exact dimension selecting the wall using the arrow with the # sign => point a wall with this tool => write the desired length. - You can draw a wall with the exact length using the "Wall Custom Length)" tool => select the tool => write the desired length.
Hope this helps. |
