Hi folks: I feel like this software has lowered my IQ by 50 points. I could sure use some help. I can't get beyond creating my first room. It's 8' x 9' 7 9/16". Yes, I want to be as exact as possible. I noticed that when I drag the wall to equal 8', it's 8' from the OUTSIDE, not the inside dimensions. And I'm finding it difficult to drag the room walls with the precision needed to get a measurement like 7 9/16". In the program I used to use, it was simple to click a room and and type in interior dimensions. I'm assuming that I'm just missing something here. I've searched the user manual, watched the tutorials, and searched the forums. Could someone please point me in the right direction? There's no point in having all these advanced features if I can't even make a room the size I need it to be. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
when you post questions at the Forum, please inform the exact name and version number of your program (V15 or V18 or V21, etc) Different programs and versions include different features, so we need the information in order to provide the correct solutions. |

Hi there, In order to design rooms with specific dimensions, you must define the settings and design process first. 1 - Precision => defines how precise you want the measurements to be => User's Guide - Page 241. 2 - 2D Drawing Methods => User's Guide - Page 37. 3 - Dimensions and Annotation tools => Notice that in order to define the interior dimensions you can use the distance between walls (Dimension Wall Spacing) => User's Guide - Page 45 / 507. 4 - You can draw your walls using Custom length (# sign) => User's Guide - Page 91. 5 - To move your walls using the arrows in your keyboard, set the snaps => User's Guide - Page 39. Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components and effects. If you are interested, in my eBook for Punch V20 for Mac, you will find lots of tutorials, tips, images and information. Hope this helps. |
