Hi Patricia! You may recall from our past conversations that, mostly, we finish existing basements.
When I draw out the existing basement, than add the partition walls to the drawing, the estimator adds all the existing walls as if they are being built by me. Often, that's the right thing to do, but sometimes, we are working on a project where much of the basement is already finished, and we are only adding a couple partition walls.
Another good way to visualize this is, on a typical basement, there will be a portion of the existing basement that will remain unfinished, so no need for framing (or anything).
Can you think of a way to have the estimator only generate materials for a portion of the project?
Thanks!

Hi Tom!
There is not a direct way to do this. However, you can use a workaround: 1 - Just to use the Estimator => you can delete the exterior walls. 2 - Just to use the Estimator => in your plan, select and copy the desired elements => create a separated room => name it (for example "New Room") => paste the desired elements inside this room => run the Estimator by Room => check the elements included in "New Room".
In addition, you can create a spreadsheet with the project before the addition, and a spreadsheet with the project after the addition. Then in Excel, you can create a 3rd spreadsheet with the difference.
Hope this helps. |
