I am trying to calculate the area of a garden bed I created using the ground fill region tool. After placing the bed I right click and a menu pops up with "calculate area" as an option. I click it and nothing happens. According to the training video I need to be on the Properties tab, which I am. But, unlike the training video, my properties tab only shows a button to "adjust curvature". I am running into the same issue when I create paths as well. It would be incredibly helpful if the software could tell me how much area I will need to fill with mulch or stone or what have you, instead of calculating it manually (especially difficult for curved paths). unnamed.png (108kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Hi All,
When you post questions at the Forum, please inform the exact name (Architectural Series or Essentials, etc) and version number of your program (V15 or V18 or V21, etc).
On the PC you will find this information in the main menu => Help => About… On the Mac this info is on the title menu => About…
Different programs and versions include different features, so we need the information in order to provide the correct solutions.
Please, note that, if we don't have this information, we can't answer your questions.

I apologize. I thought I posted it under a forum with that info. I am using Home Design Studio V21 on a Mac.

Hi there, Originally Posted by: tingting According to the training video I need to be on the Properties tab, which I am. The instructions and user interfaces are different. This is why we confirm the programs' names and version numbers. In the Mac programs, after you right click the shape => click on Calculate Area (outlined in green in the image below) => the area will appear in the low - left corner of the screen (pointed in red in the image below) Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important) => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components. If you are interested, my new eBook for Punch V21 for Mac includes lots of tutorials and a full chapter about landscaping. Hope this helps. |
