Hello,
Punch! Home Design & Landscape Professional V22 working on PC with Windows 10. The PDF printout for the Sheet Layout is not clear. Similarly, the only available Sheet Layout export option is 2D Image which is also not clear. Is there another way to export the Sheet Layout to DWG directly?

As is stated on User Guide - page 62, Layout mode is designed to print to scale on the same size paper as is set when creating the layout sheets so it can't be exported to a DWG file. If you are interested, my Printing, Export and Import Collection includes templates that you can add in the program and export to DWG. |

Thanks Patricia. The resolution was low on both the PDF printed Sheet Layout mode and the JPG generated from the 2D Image export. Also, some fill patterns did not translate over well. Does your templates include one with the export from the Sheet Layout to DWG? I was deciding whether to use Punch or ACAD to set up the plans. I would have used ACAD had I know about the PDF or JPG export limitation.

Hi there
If you are proficient with Autocad, then you know that Autocad is just a drawing tool. I have Autocad, Revit, Turbocad, Corel CAD, you name it. Granted, they are precision CAD based programs. Punch is a Home Design program with 3D and BIM capabilities. Therefore, their goals, capabilities and results (raster / vector) are different.
As mentioned, the focus of the CAD packages is on drawing, the Home Design programs (like Punch) are focused on design. This means that if you draw a rectangle in CAD, this could be a wall, or a machine, or just a rectangle. In Punch, a wall means a wall, it will have all the properties of a wall and you'll see a wall in 3D.
About PDF: notice that some PDF packages have (very) low resolution. I use Adobe Acrobat and I get excellent results.
Re: my collection => the templates don't use the Sheet Layout => they export to DWG directly from the workspace. Notice that my templates will not change the results if you are using a low resolution PDF program. |

Thanks Patricia. I have enjoyed using Punch and think highly of its capabilities. I am preparing a yard plan for HOA submittal and was hoping to use Punch to produce the whole package. I just need the printout capability. I am using Adobe Acrobat and have no issues with outputs from other applications. I wonder if other users have similar Sheet Layout issues or just me. Let me check my PDF setting. Can you forward a sample snapshot Sheet Layout in PDF?

Hi there, PDF file => settings for printing => high-resolution + CMYK mode. I am attaching a PDF (is the same PDF shown on Page 62 - User Guide). In addition, you can see samples in the webpage of my eBookNote that the images are showing the settings and image quality related with your monitor. Image.zip (4,047kb) downloaded 1 time(s). |

Thanks again, Patricia. I opened your Image.pdf file and noticed the low resolution as well. I tried numerous PDF resolution settings in the Sheet Layout mode but was only able to successfully generate a PDF file at the Standard/1200dpi resolution. All other higher resolutions did not generate any PDFs even though the prompt indicated that a PDF was created. The attached ZIP file includes this PDF printout along with the design file and the 2D Image Sheet Layout export file. 3483Test.zip (905kb) downloaded 2 time(s).

I can see several issues in your PDF / image. 1 - You will need to adjust the settings of your screen / video card. 2 - You are using a resolution for the screen and a different one for PDF. Set the Zoom accordingly and check the printing quality. I'd suggest that you check this issue with tech support |
