Hello all! I am a new user of the v24 Essentials program (Windows) and I am very confused and frustrated. I am trying to see the 2D elevation view of my building and find a way to print it out. Can someone please help me and tell me where to find this feature? The Punch! Software website comparison table shows that "Essentials" does allow for 2D/3D views. Thank you all, in advance for your time and help!

Hi there, Important note: in the Visualization section of the Comparison Chart there are 2 features: 1 - 2D / 3D: this means that you can visualize your project in 2D and 3D. In this case, 2D means the floor plans and 3D means tridimensional rendered images. 2 - Elevation Editor: this feature is specific to create elevations and it is included only with the Architectural Series and Professional versions. Therefore, it is not included with your program. You can see an elevation created with the Elevation Editor in this image from my website There is a workaround that you can use with your program: In Live View Walk-through, set the tool to get a straight image (User guide - page 548). Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => In order to get started, try to create elements or a simple plan not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components and solutions. If you are interested, my eBook for Punch V24 includes all the features, lots of tutorials, screen guides, examples, how-tos as well as images for each setting. Hope this helps. |

Thank you so much for your response. I will definitely check out the links you posted. Too bad the "good stuff" is only in the expensive versions.

Post Script:
In the example you sent me from your website, there was only a colored elevation view. Is there a "black & white" view, as well? Like you would get if you drew up plans and sent them to a customer to show the top down view and each side elevation. That's really what I'm looking for.

The elevation in my website is Textured. but there other options. In your program, check other available options => 3D Rendering Styles (User Guide - Page 552) Hope this helps. |
