I've searched the help tools. I cannot find directions for how this is accomplished.

Hi there,

There are several options, but they depend of your goals and the available documents. Please inform:

- Would you like to create a 3D model? floorplans? elevations? 3D images? Just print the documents?
- File format of the available documents?

We need the complete and technical information.
Never hear about rsv or rst formats.

Different programs and versions include different features, so we need the information in order to provide the correct solutions.

Please, note that, if we don't have this information, we can't answer your questions.

Hi Pat. Our architect can save the digital prints in 3 file types: .rvt (Revit); .dwg (AutoCAD); pdf.
We hope to see floor plans, elevations, 3D images.
We do not care so much about printing.

- rvt (Revit) is a proprietary format of the Revit program, therefore the rvt files can't be opened / imported using Punch.
- .dwg (AutoCAD) and pdf => you can import these 2 types of files. Once you import the 2D files (File => Import) you can use them to generate the model.

Note that, in order to visualize floor plans, elevations, 3D images, etc, you need to create your Punch 3D model (PRO file).

Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => In order to get started, try to create elements or a simple plan not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components and solutions.

If you are interested, my eBook for Punch V25 includes all the features, lots of tutorials, screen guides, examples, how-tos as well as images for each setting.

Hope this helps.

The file -> import is grayed out.
Are you telling me I still have to input all the parameters of the building and rooms?
Ive messed around with PUNCH software for 15+ years and was hoping to shortcut all the input of measurements by using our architect's rendering.

If the menu is grayed out, then you are in "Quick Start mode". The Quick start mode is just this, a fast layout, so you can use or just bypass it.

You can use the same procedure that you used during these 15 years Cool

Hope this helps.

Hello,

In order to visualize your 3D model, you need to build it first. BigGrin

Correct Cool
You can't open a Revit file using Punch and you can't open a Punch file using Revit.
You can open 3D solids using Custom Workshop Pro, but they are not Punch Home Design files.
