Hi J Kempker,
I did this process several times without problems, so it is not a bug.
Say you are trying to import the file "mywalls.dxf" to the file "myplan.pro" and you receive the error message, as you described. - Open a new and empty Punch file and try to import the same file "mywalls.dxf". Does the error message appear?
If the message doesn't appear, perhaps you have a video card problem. Then, the solution is: - Import the file "mywalls.dxf" into an empty file - Edit--> Select all--> Edit--> copy - Open the file "myplan.pro" - Paste
Let us know if you need more help

I had the same problem with as18, last year. So,If you export dxf from autocad, take a look at your region parameter in control panel. Verify if your region is set to english,USA. It should help...
Dona gave me a hand on that !
