Hi Mark S Borders,

I am not sure what do you mean.
Did you check the templates? AS 4000 V8 and V10--> templates--> title block.
Anyway, the dxf quality is very poor in all the systems, so I'd suggest to export DWF. There are lots of free DWG viewers, but I'd recommend Autodesk or Bentley

I think the 1st part of my question about printing and plotters was not posted. Maybe my mistake. Anyway, I forgot what the first part of my question was. I think basically I'm trying to get as good of quality as the original Punch drawing for printing 36 x 24. I seemed to be getting there. I noticed the elevation editor does not generate as good of quality as floor plan and framing editor. I did find a free PDF converter, though. It's called PrimoPDF. Also, is the floor plan the only part of the drawing I can convert to DWG or DXF?

Hi Mark S Borders,

The quality of the EE is related with the rendering quality. Of course, when you print the elevations (to PDF or other printer), you can select 3 different levels of quality

Yes, you can export only the floorplans to DXF or DWG. However, if you get a Raster to Vector converter software, you can export also the elevations

Hope this helps

I have 3 pdf exporters and I already converted the floor plan and elevation plan to pdf-36x24. I just need to work with the print emulater to get these drawings looking good. Im having a problem with getting the elevations to scale like the floor plan and framing plan, though. I can't "print to scale" like in floor plan and framing plan. It just fills the 36x24 view-not scaled. So I guess I have to cut and paste the elev. file as a jpg or pdf and shrink it. Also, if I make it to high quality, it freaks my computer out and if I use too low quality, it looks like crap. contd.....

I wanted to add, that in framing editor, any text or foundation lines will not show in the pdf file. So I thought it was the pdf converter, so I printed one and the text that I inserted in framing editor does not print. Nor do the foundation lines. Nor do the stiffener beam lines.

Mark S Borders,

I have 6 (paid) PDF converters and each one works in a different way. Some of them are useless. I have "Print to PDF" (BTW it came with Trojans included) and it don't print the elevations at all. I have PDF Master, it print the elevations, however the quality is poor. The PDF Writer (from Adobe) seems to be the better
In my opinion, to obtain a good quality, you must adjust some settings
- In Punch--> In the elevation editor, change the color of the lines (Options--> Screen color) to black, this will provide more contrast
- In Punch--> In the elevation editor--> set the lighting features (the bulb icon at the left of the screen) in order to obtain a sharp definition
- In your PDF converter--> set the quality of the output PDF documents--> at least 4800 dpi (dots per inch). Less than this looks blurry

Regarding the lines and text disappearing in the PDF, this must be a setting in your PDF converter. It works in my converter (see attached)

Did you try to print from the Layout Manager?

I'm trying the layout manager to format a couple elev. on 36x24 for the pdf converter. Working out ok but wouldn't it be nice to have dimension tools in layout manager? Also a "move to back/front" tool so when I scale the inserts, I don't cut off another. thnaks for listening
