The first question is: your Punch sw and your friends are the same version? I know that both are AS 4000 but are both V8 or V10?

If you have AS 4000 V10 and your friend has V8, he/she will receive an error message. With V10 you can open a V8 file but V8 can't open V10

Second, to open the file, your friend should save the file in his / her computer and open it from the program (never by double clicking)
