Hi Bob,

AS stands for Architectural Series, so the current equivalent of Architectural Series V10 is Architectural Series V17.
If you wish to use other Punch program: most of the new Punch program will open your AS 4000 V10 file without problems, however, not all the programs have the same features, so I'd suggest that you check the right program according with your necessities

Hi Patricia. So we are talking the $500 program, right?
Do you happen to know whether you can now specify roof thickness. I've put two 6 inch roofs on top of each other to get a 12 inch roof, but that's pretty awkward. Also, have they gotten rid of the mysterious 1/2 elevation when autofloor is turned on, which makes the trim float above the floor. And as I recall (it's been a while), the smallest nudge increment for walls, etc. was 3/8 inch which made it hard to adjust walls so the distance between them was an even inch.

I just upgraded my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. I tried to reload AS 4000 but it doesn't want to load. How can I get it to work or will it work on Windows 7?

I'm considering an upgrade from AS4000 v.10.0.0 to AS18
Some concerns:
- Will all my plans transfer?
- Will all my custom objects & textures transfer?
- Will all my topography files transfer?
I'm using a computer with Windows 7 Professional
- 2.50 GHz
- 4.00 GB RAM
- 32-bit operating system
- 197 GB free space
One issue is the AS18 computer requirements for internet access. This computer does not always have a live internet connection.

Hi Greg,

You will love the new AS Version 18! :-)

The Punch programs' compatibility works following the ascendant version number. This means that the old files are compatible with new versions but this doesn't work backwards.
Therefore, a file elaborated with V10 can be opened with V18, for example, but if you save the file with V18 it will not open with V10.

So, regarding your questions:
- Will all my plans transfer? => yes, they will.
- Will all my custom objects & textures transfer? => Yes, they will. However, as the library organization is different, you will need to create and copy your libraries. Custom objects embedded in your files will open in your new program.
- Will all my topography files transfer? => Yes, they will. In the new versions (V14 and up) the topography and the house are integrated as one file. So, your V10 .PRO file and your V10 .PTO file (topography) will become one integrated file (house + topo) in the new program.
