Hi Don Hamrick,
At the top right of your screen, you will see the icon of the Punch Updater (see attached)(is other version but the location is the same)--> click and you will get a list of all the elements available for update One of the updates is the 2D symbol library, including ADA symbols
Hope this helps |

I executed the Punch Updater. But it found nothing to update.
The program is very enemic on symbols. There are not household furniture symbols (i.e,, couch, sofa, bed, rugs, chest of drawers, etc.)
I noticed the tabs for Plumbing, HVAC, Deck, Landscape, and Electrical could use more choices.
The programs needs more muscle for symbols.

ALSO . . .
In the Updater it shows that I have no "packages" installed.
What are "Packages?"

Hi Don Hamrick, I am not sure what is a "enemic" program Did you click in the word Symbols (top of the preview bar)--> this should open the categories menu In addition you can import your own symbols using the DXF /DWG import tool You will find free symbols in my website http://www.punchhelpers.com/cad_symbols.htmlPatricia |

...and in addition, they can be created with the Symbol Editor, a Power Tool present in both versions of AS 4000 Also, there are millions available in the web Just perform a search at Google for example, as CAD Symbols or CAD blocks This is one of my favorites www.caddetails.combecause it includes the technical specs Construction details are not symbols (I know that in Punch they are located in the 2D symbol library) because they are scaled and intended to be used as details for the building specs. This is the reason they include the "??" marks so the user can fill with his / her specs. These details can be linked in the floor plan for better management of the information The construction details can be developed with the Section Detailer Power Tool Patricia |

I know it is Sunday today. So I wait for Monday for answers. But, (1) How do I add the 2D Symbol Library when the Updates does not update (finding nothing to update?; (2) Alternative: How do I draw my own symbols? i.e., beds, book cases, furniture, etc.?; (3) What is the Package Manager in the Updater? I have no packages installed? How do I install packages? What are they? And, where do I find them?
It is my opinion that the Platinum version should come fully stocked with symbols of every sort? As it stands I find the program very enemic for symbols.

Hi Don Hamrick, Even on Sunday we wrote a lot of info for you. Did you read the messages below? I guess the messages are answering your questions above about the 2D symbols, how to get new symbols, etc If you check the screen shot I attached, you will find the answer about the installed packages Notice that you should have your computer connected to Internet in order to update the programs, download packages, etc Anyway, (and just in case your program is defective) perhaps is a good idea if you check this issue with Punch's TD http://www.punchsoftware.com/contact_us.htmlLets us know if you need additional help Patricia |

Hi Patricia,
I noticed you mention the "Section Detailer" Power tool. Where can I get this power tool? I have Home Design Platinum (version 12) and it is not listed in the power tools that came with my software. I checked the power tools store and was not abe to see it there.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt, The Platinum versions don't have the Section Detailer Power Tool. This tool is part of two of the AS Series versions (AS 4000 and AS 5000) I am not sure if they sell this tool separately (I don't work for Punch) so I'd suggest to check directly with the sales department http://www.punchsoftware.com/contact_us.htmlPatricia |
